AA vs DL/FDX/UPS/UAL

Don’t just say the announcement says so. Look ahead at the weather conditions on the horizon.

Agreed. These new pay rates are here to stay for quite some time. This is also something every major airline in negotiations should be considering. A 50-76 seat RJ Captain is making 213/hr. That’s before the double/triple time over ride. Where should we be setting our minimum pay? A 20% raise at mainline just doesn’t cut it in light of these new astonishing Eagle pay rates.

WO straw poll
Curiosity got the best of me. Picked about 8 WO random CA / FO ( post temporary raise).
4 CA w DL CJO
( 1 declining for flow/ bonus)
4 FO
2 spirit / Frt classes 1 DL CJO (no PiC)
… even this isn’t going to work is my takeaway. The only thing that would have ever worked is a seniority number. It may demotivate forward looking job seekers, these were already in process so they may not be representing it well.

All this did was make AA’s regional feed the most expensive on earth. As if AA needed another economic disadvantage, this brilliant management figured out a way to handicap this company even further.

The AA wholly-owned money shower is only going to accomplish two things...
1. Keep ENY/PDT/PSA training slots full with little work necessary to recruit
2. Watch AAG pour money into these regional pilots for 2-4 years as they then leave to fly for DAL/UAL/FDX/SWA/UPS/NK/F9
If AAG was really forward thinking, they'd do one of the following two solutions:
1. Lead the pack and provide mainline AA pilots with an industry leading compensation package that would convince at least some WO pilots to stay and flow.
2. Plus up on Group I aircraft such as the A220-100, or even begin transferring some E175s, to mainline and move a larger chunk of the WO flying to mainline (and flow more pilots).
But they don't seem willing to do either one of those things. Instead they'll keep dumping money on regional pilots who'll then flee elsewhere while ****ing away whatever goodwill is left among their mainline pilots, until even those folks begin to resign and go elsewhere.

Let’s be honest, there is not a mainline / legacy pilot shortage, there is a regional pilot shortage. The regional model and regional airlines are not sustainable in its current form.

Honestly I think the writing is kind of on the wall for this. The eagle TA is only for 2 years. It’s a band-aid on the gunshot wound. I see AA getting A220s and / or 195s and mainline will pick up the regional type flying at some point as the the 50 seaters die out and the regional pilots dry up.

Wow 4 CJOs, congrats!! You must have some awesome interview skills and background, please come to purple we need you!
If I were you:
1. Fedex
2. Delta
3. United
4. UPS
5. AA flow
I’m biased of course 😁. I also flew pax at the bastard UAL regional for 10 years, after this moving to flying boxes was like a gift from the gods. I based the rest of the order from my experience deadheading around the world to and from work using AA, DL, and UAL and how they compare to each other customer service wise. UPS although cargo and a great job I put towards the bottom because they wear brown pants and I hear the relationship between management and the pilots isn’t the greatest. That whole trucking company with airplanes thing. Any way you look at it you have it MADE! Hope that helps!
