Default M&H Mateo coat vs Lawrence coat

Hey guys,

New hire here going through uniform ordering. I'd love to hear the recommendations on which coat to get with the allotment. It looks like the Mateo Melton Coat is the wool one which sounds good for me as I live in ORD and will possibly see NYC in the future. The Lawrence All Weather coat looks like a solid rain coat but lacks the warmth. I'm just looking for a solid uniform compliant jacket for commuting to work on the train and for the walk arounds. I'm leaning towards the Mateo coat to handle our Chicago winters. Any tips or advice?

Thanks!

I think the wool coat is a piece a junk, wear a sweater under the all weather or buy your own wool coat that looks similar. But maybe they’ve improved it since I got it.

Matteo looks better, but is very warm. Anything above 45 and that thing fries you.

I use the raincoat. It does have a liner but I removed it. I wear it over the Blazer, Oct to March. It’s been fine for cold walk arounds and waiting for hotel vans. It packs easily when I change into cities for my commute. Honestly, 80% of pilots don’t wear either coat, but I don’t like freezing, and you never know where you will end up on any given trip.

I have both, one from my wo allotment and one from AA. I use neither. I wear a sweater. And the blazer.

the "Incognito" jacket. when you get off the jet and are headed home, and don't want rental car counter questions, looks from angry bumped pax, etc

lol, I was going to suggest North Face for the same reason. Just zip it up enough to cover your badge and your stripes. Voila! Not in uniform!

That said, I DON’T have a North Face myself. But I see others pulling it off. Look for the younger guys in North Face with luggage works bags walking the terminal. Those are crewmembers on duty thinking they’re incognito. ;-)

Sweet sounds like the rain coat will do the job. I like the idea of it being commute friendly in the suitcase. I also own the North Face neoprene jacket too but would rather save that for off duty adventures (especially while on probation).

take liner out of rain jacket, during blazer season just ditch the blazer and bring the rain jacket if needed. you are welcome.

we got no uniform police. Just don’t wear it while at the gate while boarding your live flights. Not required to be in uniform on a DH
