APA-ALPA Merger Committee Resolution
The Allied Pilots Association (APA) Board of Directors (BOD) posted resolution on their agenda that contemplates the formation of an APA-ALPA Merger Committee. This committee would negotiate a tentative merger agreement between the APA and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) for APA BOD and membership consideration.
The quick-read of the resolution is as follows:
Please share this resolution with every AA pilot you know so we can all make the most informed choice possible for the future of our careers.
The quick-read of the resolution is as follows:
- The resolution ensures merger discussions will not impede negotiations for a new contract for AA pilots. The APA-ALPA Merger Committee is a separate, stand-alone committee that operates parallel to the Negotiating Committee. The resolution requires contract negotiations to take precedence over merger discussions should there be a conflict.
- The resolution ensures that if a merger were to occur, the interests of APA and its pilots are protected. As discussed in a previous article, a merger ensures a smooth transition with no interruption in day-to-day representational activities occurs.
- The resolution ensures the APA membership will have the final say to approve or disapprove any tentative merger agreement between APA and ALPA.
Please share this resolution with every AA pilot you know so we can all make the most informed choice possible for the future of our careers.
