737 or 320 in MIA

Hello all,

I have a class date quickly approaching and will be hoping for MIA on the drop. I was just wondering how the flying compares between the 2 narrowbodies? If I don't get MIA immediately which airframe could get me back the quickest? Which one will potentially allow a quicker line? Any and all info anyone is willing to share would be great. Thanks!

You'll get MIA in your drop, 99% chance. If not, you'll get MIA in the next vacancy. You want the Bus. Good luck.

The 320 guys will brag about their comfort and the tray table, the 737 guys will brag about the overnights and flying out of MIA.

Just pick what’s important to you.

I currently fly the bus so I can certainly understand the comfort aspect. On the bus, do a lot of the MIA trips head to west coast, maybe even do some of the Hawaii flying?

737 gets the bulk of the island flying

I HATED the 737. Loud, uncomfortable, small and everyone laughs at you when you tell them you fly it. You get comments from jumpseaters like “Holy Sh!t, WHAT IS THIS ?? a German U-Boat??”
The best I’ve heard the 737 explained is that it’s a 2 hour cockpit strapped to a 6 hour gas tank. Unless it means a commute…
Bid the bus.

Flying the Caribbean out of MIA will be some of the most fun flying you’ll ever do.
The 73 is fun to fly at least the older versions are. Cockpit is like the inside of a Sherman tank and just about as comfortable.
That includes the lousy packs.
If you eat your food with knife and fork then probably the Scarebus.

I've flown them both, bid whatever will give you the best seniority progression in the base you want. On the FO side, thats "probably" the 73, YMMV.

I've done MIA-SEA on the 73, not really that much more painful than doing it on the bus would have been. I'd be around 10% more senior on the bus in my base, but thats not worth another long course and a seat lock to me, so I'll continue to suffer on the 73.

For the "my tray table" crowd, the very super 80 had a fold out tray table before the bus was even a gleam in that frenchman's eye.

LOL, the tray table is nice, for sure, but what's REALLY nice is not having that damn telephone pole sticking up out of the floor between my legs.
