apparently….and we have only 4 types at this point. How often do these knuckleheads in Dallas think we are going to be “switching” aircraft?

Although the first officer was experienced on the Boeing 737, “she was brand new in that airplane,” said the source. “She had just read the 35-page bulletin that changes procedures.”

Why was the first officer singled out by this unnamed source, what a jerk off! This makes all first officer seem more “incompetent” (according to some of our captains here and the public) than we already are!

As far as I’m concerned, all three crew members were at fault!

Whatever happened to that “ I’m in the Green/Yellow/Red” BS they always cover every recurrent?

No.

With that said, though, wholesale, sweeping changes to all phases of the operation - flows, callouts, checklists - all implemented on a switchover date - is a terrible way to accomplish the changes. They should have been phased in over time.

There was a hidden agenda behind the source and it had nothing to do with the FO, she was just a casualty of war. They were trying to call out the "training by bulletin" of procedure and flow changes that AA just attempted fleet wide which caused much consternation from the pilot group and the union.

That begs another question here at AA. Why can F/O's not taxi the airplane? Weren't the A300 F/O's allowed to taxi back then? Must be an ego... I mean money thing.

Let's not forget that at LAA the pilot manuals were entirely different from one fleet to another.

Some people have to invent solutions to problems that don’t exist in order to justify their existence and show their bosses they’re doing something.

Someone else will get promoted by changing it back in a few years.

Or, to summarize, pretty much the military.
