He said maybe. It’s a general idea, in case you didn’t get that - the idea that someone could decide that AA is such a lousy company to work for based on what he or she reads here that they’d possibly decide commuting from XYZ AA hub to DL or UA or SW, etc. would be better than working here.

I’m guessing ArmyGuy knows exactly what happened, but wants El Peso to spell it out for him. You know. For the WIN.

That’s what this board is. It’s all about who can shout the loudest and be the most right. To be fair, though, most chat boards are at least this caustic, if not more. I’m getting really sick of it.

I’m beginning to think I need a break from this forum, and so many others, actually.

Whatever.

Absolutely, there are MANY serious shortcomings with this place in comparison to our peers right now,, but with that said, things can and do change. We can and will continue to press management’s feet to the fire in order to bring us in line with what DL (and hopefully UA) has achieved. Do not float. Do not pick up PM. Know your contract. Stand firm when CS or CT call you, etc. On and on.

But also maybe realize that in the grand scheme of things, this job - as jobs go - does not suck. If you or anybody thinks it does, then it’s time for a reality check.

For example, one guy on one of these threads complained about how long it’ll take you to actually qualify in the left seat after having been awarded it, and how many people are becoming dequalified as he put it - both issues as a direct result of AA’s backlog in training. Well, this is true, actually. However, from OUR standpoint, this is a good thing. When I upgraded for the second time a little over a year ago after the COVID problem caused me to lose my seat the first time, I actually spent my last month as an FO being paid as a CA. Winning. Fast forward and I’m now out 1-1/2 months WITH PAY because they were unable to schedule me into CQT in a timely manner, so again…winning.

I would not dare complain to my friends about how much my job sucks when they work harder than I do for much less than I make.

Perspective.

Should we work hard to better this place? Of course! But will I be continually miserable that I work here? No.

Sorry if that offends you.
Call me a Debbie downer all you will but I’ve said time and time again the purpose of my posts is to highlight the inadequacies we have over here. I have a pretty decent work life, especially given that I live in base. It can absolutely be better when in comparison to our peers and that is the point. We should be talking about it and holding management’s feet to the fire. Especially when they come on here and blatantly deceive new-hires. I like to provide a little dose of reality. I’m not offended. This is an anonymous message board

This is true, ElPaso needs to post the specifics. How is somebody getting 18 days off when our 3 days are worth 15 hours and 4 days worth 21??? How did it ever get this way?

To get to 76 hours in a standard month, 14 days off is almost exactly right with our horrible trip credits. I'll tell you how the FO got 18 days off, he has a hybrid line. Let's see how it looks after he has to fill in the rest of his required days with reserve to make it right.

Talk about an angry troll. Do you live in Below the Line and/or APA’s own forum? Something tells me you do.

I know…
you worked for Eagle for so long that you will forever hate this company. And I mean hate it. You flowed over, but you will continue to hate. I’ve known and suffered with angry crew room trolls like you. You are miserable and always will be.

Happy people look for reasons to be happy. Angry people look for reasons to stay angry. Lighten up man and gain some perspective in this world.
He literally said in a post that he works for management.

They aren’t required days, they can/should simply refuse the reserve days. Anyone with a hybrid would be crazy to accept the reserve days because they are first to get called. Hybrid lines are a great deal, wish we could bid for them.

Dude you can’t be this dumb. Go look at the PHL awards. Tons of lines with days off ranging between 15-17. Months with vacation have up to 21. I’m not going to hold your hand through each one individually and dissect every line for vacation days or training events so you’ll continue waiting for an explanation I’m afraid. The original poster asked if with 4 years seniority he can expect to hold 18 days off. The answer yes, it’s likely. You tried to tell him no, impossible. You’re the liar and the BS artist here.

Just your daily reminder. If you like:

- No 401K contribution your first year
- Your second year pay and your permanent pay date being 1 year 6 months after hire date.
- And 20 hour 4 days that have noncummutable early starts and late finishes

Then American is your company

It’s amazing the handful of people that took that seriously all seem to think alike on everything else too. Yet the ones that understood that I was being sarcastic are also the ones pushing back against this “the sky is falling at AA” narrative. Just an observation but that is interesting.

Your first time on the internet? First time on a message board? In case it is and nobody hasn't told you yet, sarcasm doesn't translate on the internet. Especially to anyone not following your thought process. You posted it you need to own it. You said you work in management so unless you say otherwise, that is what everybody dropping in is going to think. Can't believe I need to explain this in 2023 but you can't be mad at anybody who took you at your word.
