Im in a smallish status and there is very little OG. Premium for line holders is much more common. Premium reserve is even more common. You’ll have to make yourself available most every day. Seniority rules too, so junior guys are always last to eat throughout the month

What should I expect the w2 to look like after year 2?

Take year 2 pay rate x 1000. That’ll get you an approximate answer.

Hustle a lot and you can make more. Min run things and make less.

That answer is essentially the same at all airlines.

Comfort aside, is there a significant difference in the type of flying on the 320 vs 737 out of MIA? What about other bases?

Is there much difference in the ‘mission’ of the two fleets or are they mostly interchangeable?

Are MIA trips generally commutable? For conversation sake, let’s say day 1 starts of 10am or later, day last release of 6pm or earlier?

depends on what you can hold. I’m a commuter and I bid via PBS show times after 830a and release no later than 2000. I generally get awarded 4-5 day trips that end in a red eye. They’re commutable on both ends.

being on reserve well that’s a different story. I used to proffer trips so I could hopefully get awarded a trip I wanted that was commutable. Sometimes though you will get stuck with a broken trip like having to commute in the night before for an early flight to MIA DFW and deadhead back. Long call was decent, just not when you got a call in the evening for an early show.

How long should a new MIA FO expect to sit reserve? I'm hearing everything between two months and a year.

737 June hire. January first month on line. 1 month SC, LC since then. I’ve been fluctuating between 3-10 numbers from getting a line each month. I assume summer for a line.
Just depends on your aircraft. 737 drops in Miami are usually small compared to Airbus. At least that’s the way it’s been since last summer. I’m over 10% more senior on the bus which would help if I wanted to make the jump.

Whats the proffering success on LCR with your seniority, pretty easy? Or does all the senior reserves get all the proffering?
