CA upgrade and WB
1) how long is the CA upgrade for a new hire at MIA and PHL?
2) hour long until upgrade to a WB? And what are the WB trips from MIA? |
1- just over 3 years for both bases. What that means for someone hired today? Hard to say. It will probably get quicker for a year or two then the trend will reverse.
2- 5 years to WB FO. MIA does EZE, GRU, GIG, SCL, BCN, LHR, LAX, CLT, HAV in April |

Assuming senior enough to barely hold either NB CA or WB FO in MIA which would be preferred. Or would sitting at 17% as a NB FO offer a better quality of life? Caveats are living in Ft. Lauderdale with middle school kids.

If you like your kids and don’t need the money, I’d stay as an FO

I also have a friend who upgraded to the Bus just after Covid who's opting to bid 777 FO in base, probably just to get away from the narrowbody world. Honestly, it depends on what game you like to play, certainly senior FOs can make money, but I haven't mastered that alchemy yet. I've been told that the WB flying is a like a whole other airline, and if you live in FLL you're certainly close enough to MIA to make it drivable. If it were me I'd probably lean that direction. |

I'm not a SoFL guy, but living in base on SC hasn't been bad for me (CLT FO, one year on property), I'm regularly scoring extra days off and half days at home (blocked in at 10AM today, rest of the day off) and may chose to keep this up for a while.

Crazy how many people obsess about WB Positions. Flying up and down the east coast NB is soo easy... This is a regional airline after all . The obsession is weird.
