You have to get lucky to beat the flow. It happens, but it’s rare. I think anything you can do to increase your odds is money/time well spent.

WAI is $525 this month. Ouch.

Do internal recs even ping the meter at all on a published app? I've heard that unless your app gets directly looked at they're of no value.

Pilots can send internal recs on our end directly to recruiting through our iPad. I know those help.

Thanks.

I think I have five or six of those. They filled out some online form with a narrative and submitted. Never heard a peep. I still update my app but I don't put any hope in it.

Is going to a conference the only hope for us other than the flow?

A guy in my class (Street Captain) got the call for AA interview the day he started at a WO. Talked to the recruiter who didn't know what to do. He never heard a peep from the recruiter again, even called a few times to try and follow up. I don't know if he bothers to keep his app current now.

I am of the mind that none of it matters and going to conferences is like a lottery. Very very very low odds. But some people pull it off.

Sorry to tell you, but the chances of getting hired as a WO pilot(outside the flow) are very, very low. I think I recall seeing the number of WO pilots hired outside the flow last year under 40. Management is happy to pillage non AA regionals and take their lesser experienced pilots over hire our WO pilots outside of the flow. Your experience with the street captain just goes to show that’s the case. They were interested in him before learning he was a WO pilot.

Yeah, he said he came to a WO because he figured AA wasn't gonna call. Our entire class got moved up two weeks for our start date, too, or he'd have been in that interview. Crying shame.

that 100 other people on here are going to want to know what your stats are and how many conferences/meet the chiefs/etc you went to.

I got the phone call to edit something on my app on a Friday and the interview invite/assessment emails came Monday so hopefully a quick timeline for you!

Afternoon,

I’ve had my app in for a little under a year and just got the work traits assessment followed by an invite to interview in April. First off looking forward to hopefully joining AA, I’ve been lurking for a while and saw some commuting discussions from Central FL to MIA Vs NYC etc, my question is are there any specific bases over the other or fleet that has long overnights in MCO?

Also, is there any way to to make a little extra or play the game on Reserve as a commuter at AA? I remember reading something about the scheduler has to designer PR or something along those lines.

I know I have to get a CJO and go through training before even thinking of this but cut me some slack for using the search function haha.

Mco to anywhere is a tough commute. I think Mia is the worst one. Clt phl DFW probably ok. Phl better seniority. I don't think we currently fly to LGA or JFK from MCO.

Picking up pr only happens on days off. You'd have to sit in base to do it. Pretty rare at this point. Or usually hits after everyone else snags premium or OG or straight pick up or make up. Wouldn't count on it.
