Default IRONY: BA wants 25% of AA/US.

As the main protester to Virgin's entry into the US market and ownership of a US airline (Virgin America), isn't it ironic that BA now wants to do the same?

With BA therefore getting a larger piece of the US to Europe feed from this deal, The question is How will Branson respond as Virgin America is far too small to compete with a new US/AA to BA feed.

What mid size US carrier has hubs in the main Virgin Atlantic US destination cities: NY Kennedy and Boston? Hmmm...

There were some articles a while ago that talked about Branson being interested in an alliance with Delta. That could fill the gap nicely in JFK/BOS as well

Default How will Branson Respond to BA's 25% of AA/US

The ever going battle for the Trans-Atlantic Airline business continues as BA pitches to own 25% of the new AA/US deal. (Ironic since BA screamed about Branson owning part of a US carrier).

Surely this hurts Virgin Atlantic as BA will have a larger auto feed from a combined AA and US Air.

"Bet to you Sir Richard." "Raise? (Acquire someone-Jetblue Maybe?), Call? (Grow Virgin America Rapidly), or fold?"

News Flash: JetBlue already feeds Virgin Atlantic in JFK, BOS, IAD, and MCO through their Interline agreement.

Not really that ironic.

Delta/NWA was helped by Air France and the Skyteam

UAL/CAL was helped by Lufthansa and Star Alliance

USAIR/AMR will be helped by BA and One World

Anyone who think this merger isnt' going to happen has their head in the sand.
BA, AMR and US Air need it to happen or face failure.

Very interesting. Especially so considering the alliance that existed between US and BA in the 1990's being broken up by BA's involvement with American. Old article (1996), but it's amazing how management decisions come full circle.

AMR and BA are circling the wagons to protect the future integrity of One World. I expect Horton to run OW (after he ca$hes in on an AA merger) and Parker will be the big tuna of AA.

Positioning for ultimate foreign ownership of US airlines and a network stable of "metal neutral" carriers.
