AMR asks APA to negotiate

So the pressure of "running" the airline with a voided Pilot contract has now gotten to them... just as we No voters predicted it would. Should we now "kick the can" and play their game?

UAL/DAL + or it's another resounding No!

The situation as it is now is an open festering wound. After awhile it will be seen as normal ops for AA and then will be much more difficult and expensive to cure. Unfortunately, Horton still has surrounded himself with bad advice from those living in the 1980's trying to reinvent the "Lorenzo Plan".

I'm skeptical they intend anything more then trying to convince APA to get the minimum into the hands of the membership to get another 10-15%. Take the LBFO, add a sprinkle of sugar here and a dollop of cream there along with perhaps a signing bonus and go for 55% yes.

That won't cure the disease though and the patient remains gravely ill. The UCC has to understand and accept the illness first, to realize the path to a healthy future.

F them

They have the contract they wanted let them live with it.....

The APA should be only interested in improving what Doug Parker has offered. If anything less is offered by AMR, slam the door in their face as you already have a better offer.

APA will proceed to the table, The Union president is in talk with the NBM (yes I know they probably will never get released).

"On Tuesday, APA President Keith Wilson and Negotiating Chairman First Officer Neil Roghair met with the National Mediation Board in Washington, D.C. We are currently discussing the possibility of a status conference with the NMB and management in the very near future to determine the NMB’s level of participation going forward."

The AA pilots hold the leverage and as Delta got their contract settled and United begins the recall process to the United side of the house all the while AMR management finds itself in a tight corner, everyone else is obtaining labor stability and concluding their mergers (well except you know who) and AMR is having huge turmoils and a big roadblock ahead as it tries to exit bankruptcy protection, all the while tick, tock, tick, tock that exclusive period comes to and end and the secure and unsecured creditors become tired, and we haven't even talked about the customers. Delta is winning corporate accounts, United is trying to keep theirs and Southwest is pressing business travelers. Did I mention the wright amendment will be making noise again next year?

Obviously. The APA leadership is on record as stating to their members that an "LBFO II" type agreement is dead. If they were to even try to pass that to the members, there would be a pitchfork party and bonfire recall celebration. The UCC spittle kid says no more value beyond LBFO.

Tsk, tsk...........what to do, what to do.

I expect the pilots have no problem kicking the can for awhile. The holidays could be a disaster. Very pessimistic, I am.
