AA preps for new hire pilots.

If we're calling getting hired at a company 'stapling' these days, then I guess that's what'll happen to them. Do you mean where will they go on the list in relation to new hires at US? I can't imagine anything other than DOH. Their career expectations are no better or worse than anybody else getting hired at New AA.

This is where the concept of "constructive notice" comes in. The constructive notice date for AA/US will be February 14, 2013, in all likelihood. The merger was publicly announced that day. Anybody joining AA or US prior to that date was joining AA or US on their own merits. Anybody hired after that date, whether by AA or US, could reasonably expect that they were joining the "New American Airlines". Such pilots would be ordered below all pilots on the lists of both pre-merger airlines, however those lists are ultimately integrated, in date-of-hire order. That's how it has worked in the past, and there's no reason to believe it would be any different this go-round.
Whatever differences the parties have anywhere else in the SLI - and they will be numerous and significant - this is one issue that's pretty simple for all to agree upon.
