AA reserve

Update AA reserve:

I have flown every day since June 22. One more time I am a 777 FO. This is very very very very unusual. Yesterday on day 11 in Buenos Aires I saw they had me flying tonight after my arrival this morning to Brazil. I Skyped CS from EZE and very politely let her know i'd flown 3 trips in a row with no days offf and that I fully expect to fly a 4th trip on the 4th of July for 16 days in a row with no scheduled day off. She told me it was AA policy. I told her i'd be fatiqued. She asked don't you want to wait until tomorrow? I said I'm trying to give you plenty of time to get a FO from DFW or JFK. There were 3 trips on the 4th that aren't too bad, so I said i'd be rested at 7am on the 4th.

Right now i'm waiting, they will assign me EZE at 8:30pm tomrorow night flying me into my day off for 16 days, no days off. Your 24 in 7 is in EZE and was in GRU and was in EZE on the 23rd of June.

This is UNHEARD of 4 trips in a row, 16 days flying touching every day with a duty period (actual flying ) and my reward is ?

4 days off. Then back on reserve for 5 days then 5 days off.

Attn: USAir pilots You do not want the AA reserve system!

Stand by for Forever FO to say he has flown 1 trip in the last 30 days out of DFW.

You get all your days off back later on right?

I can't believe how much worse this is than the regional contracts I've worked under.

how long have you been on the 777 and how many years seniority do you have? I'm thinking its so senior that no New Hire will be able to bid it unless reserve is that miserable that nobody wants it?

I don't think that's the point. Parker could slash staffing so it is like this in every base on every fleet in the name of profit. This is far far far far worse than even Republic's reserve.

I just want to get my foot in the door, then worry about having time off...sounds like a deployment almost, except flying nicer equipment and going to decent locations...

Is it as bad on the domestic side of things?

I am jr manned for EZE 4 day trip tomorrow night. 16 days in a row into my moveable day off.

This info is mostly for USir pilots. You don't want AA's policy of 24 off in 7 in a foreign country/city. You need 24 off in 7 in your domicile.

I started reserve on June 22, and end reserve on the morning of July 7. I have had zero days off.

I am waiting for the chief pilot to call me back. I have called twice today. They are too busy to talk to me. I filled out a fatigue report for refusing to fly tonight. I got home at 4am this morning. The fatigue report is long.

For all other pilots. Yes, you try to get a job here. It is far better than a regional. I flew for Horizon Air for 9 years. I loved it. But AA is fun, it's just mismanaged. I am trying to inform USAir pilots that we/they need to help get rid of bad work rules.

There is no payoff at AA for how the bids come together on reserve. You could be on reserve for 20+ days and fly every one, then get 4 days off. There is no PAYOFF.

I love flying the 777, I miss flying the 757. I love flying out of MIA. But, when you work 16 days in a row, with no reward at the end (meaning extra days off) it is disheartening.

I have 18 years. I chose to fly the 777 and came form the 757/767 where I could trade into anything I wanted. Paris, Madrid, Daytime carib, some sweet domestic trips, lots of Quito Ecuador and Bogota Colombia.

I did this to myself. I am close to holding a line on the 777. But in general, I fly 3 trips a month for the last year and a half on the 777 out of MIA.

At us air I flew every day on reserve last month also. The us air system may be better than AA but it's not what we want for the future.

I think we should all work together and get a reserve system that people do not want avoid like the plague in the JCBA. Reserve sucks, it doesn't matter how nice you make it. But let's try and make it so people on reserve can have a life and not live day by day. I hope the negotiators don't forget about those on reserve.
