What's this arbitration regarding? I get lost with the history of twa / AA etc

The arbitration from AA closing the STL base due to BK.
It's out. In a nutshell: - protected CA positions on seat/equipment thru 2019 on NBs and SWBs (MD80s and 75/76 Domestic.) When the MD80s get retired the protected positions go to the replacement aircraft (Airbii.) - bases to be chosen by AA - all other bidding done by system seniority (vacation, bidding, etc.) - opportunity to bid to 777, but this would count towards total NB CA protections - in the case that there is insufficient 75/76 domestic flying available, the chance to bid protected 75/76 Intl - the NB fence comes down when a certain named ex TWA pilot has sufficient seniority to upgrade to CA, all the way down to a Group 1 aircraft. That's what I got out of it. Edited: when the named ex TWA pilot upgrades to CA on any aircraft starting at Group 1, the **NB FENCE** is what comes down, not the entire thing. |

Group 1 captain will probably available to every AA guy once the SLI with US is complete. Unless the pay goes higher during JCBA.

What it boils down to, is that there are protected seats at bases of AA's choosing, that can change at any time. However, with the assigned seniority numbers of the majority of the current protected Captains, they will be perpetual reserve for many, many, many years to come. The 777 FO becomes available to former TW types, but any that choose to bid that position based on their system seniority number, will count against the number of protected Captain positions.

I gotta say, I was surprised at the results. Because I was expecting mini Supp CCs at all the cornerstones... which I would have humbly accepted and moved on.

I've read it twice now. I have no problem with it. I'm happy for ex TWA FO's who've been harmed the most and I hope they have a better quality of life through this.
I've always felt in any merger if you kept the Capt seat you did okay. Not great but okay. Of the original 1,000 TWA Captains 835 came in senior to me and kept their seats never flying FO at AA until they retired or are still in Capt seats. There were 100 Capt's junior to me that many of them were displaced for 2 years then reinstated and a couple were displaced again for about a year or so and are back in capt seats. Approx 50 Capts were furloughed and are still awaiting reinstatement. The overwhelming majority of TWA capt's kept their seats. I think the furloughees were the most harmed. I sincerely wish them happy flying. I have no problem with this award/decision. |

We are still working on it over here. Hopefully when everything is settled in 1-2 years we can all move forward, AWA/US/AA/TWA, as one. G |
