Default US West to recall remaining furloughed pilots

This was mentioned in another thread but thought it deserved it's own thread.

The company announced yesterday that it will recall the remaining west furloughed pilots. Congrats to those that want to come back and the ones on the east that want to return to PHX. Hopefully it is a sign of the strength of PHX and that it will indeed remain as it is or grow.

I've flown with two west guys that took recall to the east and it was a pleasure working with both.

This will be bittersweet for some guys because they have to give up lines on the east to come back to PHX or lose their PHX base rights and position on the Nicolau, from what I have been told. There is also a question of seat locks for non airbus guys. We also have guys flying overseas and for other airlines that have to make a decision before the SLI is done. Some guys wanted to bypass until they could hold a line.

Nothing is ever simple, I guess. Good news is there will be PHX upgrades, about 30 to 35.

I agree. We had guys bypass the E190 to come back to 737 or better only to get displaced to..........the E190.

Good to see upgrades out there, too long coming.

I thought they could come back to the east at any time? I didn't realize they were truly on furlough. I'm glad they were able to go back work.

They could. Every furloughed West pilot has the option to come to the east. The ones that chose to exercise that option can all hold 190 CA or stay on the bus as senior RSV or secondary block holders. The more senior guys would be primary block holders I believe

Yes they could but not at their west seniority, which was an issue when they were first offered east positions. They came on below any third lisst guys that had been hired before the west guys took the recall east. The ones that went east basically did not have anything else to do or they did want to fly out of CLT or PHL in a few cases. It has worked out ok for them I guess with all the hiring and growth. There have been recalls to the west but these 66 guys bypassed or were never recalled west.

No they went east under the new hires and third listers thanks to our disgrace of a union. They now hold 190 capt because a 2011 hire can hold it.

Isn't it going to be great to all be under APA. Just ask TWA about ALPA and APA.
