is there a difference between uploading a LOR on the documents page vs the recommendations tab on pilot credentials? Or are they both viewed?

The uploaded letters on the documents page are external (non-AA). Recommendations are internal. Both are looked at.

None of them are looked at until you interview.

Uploaded LOR's are generally from external (non-AA) people. The LOR written through pilot credentials is an internal LOR and the one's that I believe really count. The avg 2016 hire has I believe 2.5 internal LOR's.

I believed what MainlineAF said which was they don't get looked at until the interview HOWEVER after the latest Arrival edition I know longer believe that.
This is what they said. "Current American pilots also play a key role at this stage. We know they’re the best, so we offer them the chance to submit personal references. These references add significant value to candidate profiles and are considered early on in the process."

That takes place before the online interview. So I think things have changed and internal LOR's do matter now which is good!!!
Best of luck to everyone that applies.

My internals have said they will write a letter if I get a call, sounds like it is time to twist their arm beforehand. I read that latest letter and was thinking the samething about the letters being considered beforehand as a possible change.

Mil fighter background. Applied last October, got the email for the video interview last week. Accomplished the interview Friday morning, haven't heard since.

My buddy, same background, applied at the same time, got the email the same day. Did his interview yesterday and got the 2nd email this morning for additional info.

Not sure if this is bad news for me that I haven't heard anything and he has, but definitely good for him!

I wouldn't sweat it, there are many variations in their timing throughout the whole process.

Default Initial Email

I applied in September. I just read that the initial email is titled Support Department. I usually do not open email in my junk box that I do not recognize. I get hundreds per month. That said I vaguely remember an email with that title but it is no longer in my mailbox. (Auto delete)
Will they send it again if no response in a given amount of time?

The initial email to invite you to complete the video interview is from the Support Dept([email protected]). It tells you that you only have a set number of days to complete the video interview. Not sure if they send any follow up emails because I got mine in my inbox and completed in the timeline.

I'd suggest if you are applying to check your junk mail on a regular basis and open anything that might be from the airline. There are literally thousands of applicants and the pilot recruitment offices assume that if you don't respond, then you are no longer interested or have found other employment.
