10 months to 190 Capt

At Airways. Most these guys will be displaced in a few years I would guess. But good for them

With the 190 CA pay being equal to Group 2 F/O pay and the large amount of retirements in progress, very doubtful that they will be displaced.

How about 2.5 years to A330 FO...

who would want to fly it? 5 leg days and the pay is less than airbus f/o. Top it all off with an epic stay on reserve.

The real news is...

and that there are about 40 new hires that will enjoy double red-eyes.

Less than that. Went Feb 2012....

Other than the pay, I don't get the dissing on the E190. It isn't a bad airplane, and the trips aren't as bad as all that. There's plenty of IAH, DFW, MSP, MSY, GCM, etc., to help make up for the Shuttle. I didn't do that many more 5-leg days on the 190 than I do on the Airbus (although a willingness to do 3-day redeyes means five-leg days are less common!) and had some great layovers.

Before you think the junior E190 CAs will be on reserve forever ... with 2.5 years on property I'd have almost 20 junior to me in that seat if I were to bid it ... and that's a position I couldn't hold at all until a year ago. 20 more numbers up and I'd be in to a secondary block on the airplane. At least half the captains I flew with on the 190 a couple years ago have bid the 320 now (or went to blocks on the 767 and 330 right seat). While it's not the meteoric rise of the E190 right seat, it's pretty quick progression for a major airline.

For those who doubted US a couple years ago ... after 2.5 years I can hold EVERY right seat in the East system except CLT 330, AND 190 captain, with 400+ below me and more coming in every month. I'll be a solid secondary blockholder on the 320 in CLT, and could hold a primary in PHL or DCA.

Official vacancy count, after the bid, for those who are interested:

32 757/767 (24 PHL, 8 CLT)
43 A320 (26 PHL, 11 CLT, 6 DCA)
30 E190 PHL

Looks like the real movement around here is going to be in PHL crashpads! 80 of 105 vacancies are there.

How long is it taking for a primary and secondary line 320 CLT?

Primaries are still up in the 2008 vicinity, but secondaries for February went to 2012 hires. I was hired mid-2011 and will probably be just a skosh short of a primary come April, but secondaries will reach WELL in to the 2012s and maybe even early '13.

Secondary yoyos from 15 to 18 months and primary is top end of the third listers. But with the added primary lines I expect a lot less secondary lines.

F/O pay at 12 years is the same for E190 CA and Group 2 F/O. 2nd year pay there is about a $30,000.00 difference in favor of E190 CA if you include 401k contribution.
