Total myth. They can and WILL transition as much as they feel the need to. I've looked at the reserve list and seen every single long call transitioned before. The only time they can't transition you is on your last day. They also can't transition you on your second-to-last day, provided there's someone in your status with 3 or more days remaining.

I'm sure this is one of those areas that has been earmarked to be changed. It's been abused since this system was put in place.
Stupid thing is, Sched would do the complete list transition during historically high sick call times, weather coming in etc etc. And then you would look and see that most that were transitioned were never used.
The intent was about the same as the POTA intent. Only to be used in dire circumstances. Well it seemed every week the company had dire circumstances. For quite some time you used to have two choices coming off of days off. Fly or be transitioned, if there wasn't a trip you were transitioned. I believe it had gotten better in recent yeas.
Passing rules would be nice to have back also. If they could put together a rsv system, similar to what the '98 system was supposed to be and current day, with limits on transition, it could probably be a decent system.

I've been put into the situation of possible having to tell scheduling tomorrow morning when they call me that their assignment is not FAR 117 legal, therefore having to take a MA (potentially). I've already spoken with a couple of guys manning the 117 Help line. The company's blatant and willful FAR 117 violations are mind boggling. Well, maybe not.

I also called the 117 Helpline Sunday. They were great.
450 if you are on probation (not sure if you're a new or a Flow) you should use the HIRPB (reserve preference ballot) as you probably knew.
Here's the latest on the arby,
Upon return from lunch, Mr. Spiegel announced that of the 4 items in dispute, 2 had been settled:
1) Use of ACARS for (future) scheduling and
2) The requirement to check a schedule upon block in. Both items were settled in favor of APA.
The two remaining items for the Arbitrator are:
3) What would be required of a pilot during a DFP and domicile rest and
4) How is notice given (all paraphrased)
