73 vs. 320
#52
What I meant (please just state it more clearly and/or correctly if I'm wrong or just unclear - not sure if you meant "what are you trying to say" or "wth are you talking about dummy") is that if you hold an input into the stick it will continue to roll (as opposed to a conventional hold-the-wing-down yoke input). IOW to lower the wing in the flare you'd have to give the stick just the right bump then release to neutral, right? Or have I gotten myself totally screwed up on this train of thought?
Just an old noob trying to understand this bird. Thanks for the discussion.

No kidding, I've flown the 320 series and the A300/310 and reading some of this stuff has my head spinning although I understand it. Excepting the 321 since I've never flown it, I thought the 320 and 300 flew pretty similarly overall. The biggest differences were the power of the 300, the 319/320 were slicker and easier to get a greaser in. As far as Xwinds go, Airbus' just require a whole lot less rudder pedal movement to get the equivalent rudder movement vs a Boeing.
On the FBW Busses, I understood the technical reasons why the stick ends up neutral after you put the aileron input(s) in a crosswind, but it never really bothered me. Guess I'm a simpleton, but I just looked out the window and if what I was doing gave me the picture I wanted I was happy. FWIW, the 300 doesn't require as much aileron input as the Boeings I've flown either unless you want to make life interesting. The biggest crosswind gotcha for me initially was that the ailerons go into direct law once you touch down so if you don't add some aileron the wing is gonna come up quickly especially since the plane is a lot taller than a 737.
Bottom line on all these planes is that they can only make you a bad pilot if you let them.

Can you repost, didn't work. I tried to copy and paste the link and remove the first http and it still didn't work. I am very interested in why you can't wing down top rudder this airplane, never got a good explanation. I have flown other roll rate command aircraft, and it was extremely easy. It made task that were almost impossible child's play.
Most of my life I have been a crab kicker and think the crosswind landings in the bus are fairly easy as long as I remember to fly it like as a rate command aircraft; avoid the pup tendency when it gets gusty. I do think it could be easier with wing down top rudder
