A pilot for Southwest Airlines was arrested at St. Louis Lambert International Airport for having a loaded 9mm pistol in his carry-on luggage, officials said Wednesday.

The 51-year-old male pilot was detained at a TSA checkpoint at about 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. His name wasn't released.

Easy. Permanently strip him of his access to secured areas of an airport to include a cockpit. If he isn't responsible enough to remember he had a gun in his work bag or where all of his guns are, he is not responsible enough to fly an airplane.

At FedEx you get fired.

Is that because of mail regulations or the previous incident at FedEx or just because?

FedEx has a zero tolerance policy for weapons on company property. More than one pilot has been fired for this exact issue.

Personal weapons I'm sure. I know some Fedex FFDO's who are obv allowed to carry.

Yeah. Really. You canít be fired for carrying a gun on property that the company and govt allows. If youíre stupid enough to carry a personal firearm onto property....perhaps you should be fired.

There is a difference between carrying (wearing it) and transporting it.

Many states passed laws that allow an employee to keep a firearm stored in their personal vehicles while at work.

Yeah, clearly an impeccable display of discipline. Another SWA FO was busted back in April. SWAPA is going to cost us all, after riding ALPAs coat tails into the program to begin with.

1 This has nothing to do with the FFDO program.
2 There are Pilots at all Airlines that have had issues of various types, not to mention officers of all programs.

Well, he still may have a hard time getting his shooting iron back. Hopefully it wasn't a high end H&K.

Yeah, should of known and all that other stuff. I'll wager there was less than zero intent.

Report said it was a Shield, so it's easily replaced. Cheap this time of year, too.

CAPA worked getting KCM approved. ALPA took all the credit.
