Yeah, but then you'd never hear Southerner stop complaining about how great the pay and work rules are.

I'd probably quit. I love working for a discount! I hope nothing improves, and the work rules get worse.

There you have it folks, Southerner unfiltered.

Every time I see a pilot without a lanyard I see a pilot who loves working for a discount.

Nice attempt in sarcasm but based on your past post this reads more like your true self.

It's amazing to me that you guys can't understand that there are other positions other than "hardliner burn it down." It is possible to both want a truly excellent contract AND not be angry.

But you're welcome to believe what you want. It makes no difference.

Itís amazing to me that you canít understand that if you want a truly excellent contract, you should support your fellow pilots and union and wear a lanyard. And attend the picket. You really think if we had 3,500 lanyardless southerners who didnít support the union, we would EVER get a market rate contract?

Yes. I do. I think the propaganda doesn't do anything. I think paying dues and having a good negotiating committee armed with solid surveys does do something. We just differ in our opinions on the matter.

I'm not a burn it down guy Southerner, but you're literally saying you think you know better than our MEC, SPSC, and all the resources we have at ALPA National.

I myself maintained the positive vibe as the MEC message indicated progress. That's over. We're in a labor dispute. The company is not going to give us a MARKET RATE contract without pilot group involvement. They indicated as much to us when they themselves sent us an email saying they thought a proposal within a percentage point below Alaska's arbitrated rates was acceptable.

An example for you: Southwest picketed 3 times before they got their contract. The first one had a few hundred participants. The next have 7-800. The last, ~1200. The got a contract 1 week after that last picket. Showing up to the rally's, pickets, wearing your lanyard show's them all this frustration isn't among just a few select members of the pilot group.

So, are you happy with the progress of negotiations? Are you happy with substandard work rules and pay rates?

Very solid post. I will just add the companies proposed pay rates (puke) were contingent on very poor work rules. I know you know that, just adding color.

Otherwise, Southerner wrong, so wrong. You; right on the money.

I think we've all determined he is just a management-in-waiting troll who is in fact happy with substandard work rules and pay rates. He is no ally to the JB pilot group.

It's useless to engage with him except maybe to show prospective applicants what kind of people we are up against here and help them realize they're better off applying elsewhere. This place is rotten to the core.

There you have it folks, Southerner unfiltered.

Every time I see a pilot without a lanyard I see a pilot who loves working for a discount.

This is a dangerous mentality.

My lanyard broke the other day when I was taking it off, and the first thought I had in my mind after that was literally 'People might see me as a non-supporter'. That's pretty ****ty. I managed to Macgyver a fix for it until I can get a new one so I can still wear it (Where can I get a new one btw?), but this attacking fellow pilots is old and helps nobody.

You know what helps? Spreading the message. Fly SOP. Support your MEC/negotiating team. That's it.

There are very few guys I've flown with who didn't have a lanyard on but had Alpa pins on, or their luggage handle wrap. Maybe their lanyard snapped like mine, but I shouldn't immediately think "THEY ARE THE ENEMY! THEY ARE SELLOUTS! JUICERSZZ!!!"

I'm allowed to go to work and not be miserable. I should also be able to go to work and not feel like I have a target on my back from other fellow pilots if my plastic lanyard breaks and I have to clip my ID to my shirt.

I want a market rate contract as bad as those negotiators. I'm not going to be a miserable **** every day though.

I agree with you. FWIW, I do have my 10 year ALPA pin on my ID.

And you're right Bluedriver, engaging here does no good. Take care.

I really disagree with this. When you attack guys not wearing lanyards you're essentially pushing them away from the group, and our common goal.

Please keep the discussions civil with those that disagree with you on here, and on line. Let the P2P volunteers engage non lanyard wearers they're trained for it.

I've run into people that used to not wear their lanyards, start wearing theirs. The Goodwill for the company is depleting. Don't isolate the guys that aren't on board yet with personal attacks and conspiracy theories about company plants.

It's not a conspiracy theory, I didn't say he's a company plant. I said he is management-in-waiting. AKA he isn't on our side and has aspirations to be in mgmt.......... as is evidenced by all of his posts recently.

And sorry (actually not sorry) if you're offended by my assuming a non-lanyard guy is unsupportive of the MEC. It's the same metric management uses to gauge who is "on board" with the MEC. Yeah yeah yeah there are guys who had a lanyard break..... those aren't the guys going months without wearing one. GMAFB.

You're right there is a more tactful way of dealing with the fence sitters, but Southerner isn't one of those. Peace.
