How often do you have dispatchers on your jumpseat, other than required FAM rides.

well if you had to have someone on the JS but it was your choice as to who got on would you rather have a fed or a dispatcher on?

Easy, the dispatcher. Personally, I love shooting the breeze with dispatchers and have even flown with a couple pilots who were dispatchers in a former life. It's really interesting to hear from the other side of the paperwork/ACARS.

I think two dispatchers, one NTSB person in 14 years 121.

Duh. I wasn't saying I wouldn't let them on, I was saying I rarely see them.

Maybe one in the last 5 years, also one ATC in the last 10 years.

There just aren't very many of them to begin with. Also, most live in their airline's HQ so they don't need to commute. And when they do need to take a flight, they can non-rev.

Anyone ever ask them why they don't get your ACARS jokes?
