I've been a long time reader, but first time poster. Just got a question about the sign on bonus for Compass. Is it as advertised?

Other than completing IOE, waiting 9 months and a year for the full pay out, is there any other "catch" to the bonus, or is it as advertised?

Been hearing stories about guys leaving pretty quickly and they asked them to give the bonus back. Only ďcatchĒ I can think of. Donít forget the tax on bonuses too.

Is there anything that says you have to stay a certain amount of time? I'm planning on staying, but its just nice to know.

The way it was briefed to me, they have a "training contract" wherein if you ditch while you are in training you are obligated to pay them back at the rate of $2K/month. Once you hit the line this goes away. I imagine they had a few guys get into training, get a better offer, and quit.

I specifically asked if I would still be obligated to pay anything back if I was off IOE, and the answer was a firm no, no further commitment.

I interviewed within the last 3 months.

What happened to the hiring bonus Compass was advertising? I see it is advertised here on APC, but itís not on the Compass website.

Word on the street is that it is being restructured, what that means, no one knows just yet. May get better, may go away.

I am not an official source but I thought it was lowered to 7500$. I do not understand how they get away with advertising the 17.5k though and then being like nope!

My buddy flew 11 months with compass, upon quitting he received a call saying he owed the company $10,000 to pay them back for training costs.

He never paid and it went away, but after a lot of threatening from the company

This still accurate? $7,500 hiring bonus for new hires regardless of prior experience? And I read an old post when new hires had to pay for their own accommodations during training. I believe I've heard differently nowadays, but just want to confirm.

New hires get hotel now but it can be shared (it isn't always, but no guarantee), although the hotel is sometimes sort of apartment style where you do have some amount of privacy/kitchen/extra bathroom etc, again depending on which unit you get. Not going to post what hotel we use on here for security.
As for the current signing bonus, I am not sure.

7500 now and only the FAs have to share hotel rooms. During our training (in the last year) a few in our class had the large 2 bedroom suites to themselves and others had the more ďnormalĒ apartment type rooms. Havenít heard of any pilot sharing anything since Iíve started

Hotels are all single occupancy. Bonus is still $7500.
