Just curious (Iím not to this point yet). Whatís typical time to get DCA based and typical time to hold a line there? Also what aircraft are available at that location?

DCA is 737/D only and can be obtained within a few months. UDC is 320/I only and can be obtained within a year or so.

An April '18 hire was just awarded DCA. The junior line holder is a Aug '17 hire.

Junior UDC FO is a May '17 hire with the junior UDC line holder is a Aug '16 hire.

Thanks for the info on DCA. Forgive my ignorance, what does UDC stand for?

UDC is the identifier given to the legacy US Airways DCA base. I'm sure once the flight attendants are fully integrated it will be combined with DCA

Good odds that PHL will eventually get 787ís. At some point all the 767ís will be made into beer cans.

I was on the jumpseat of one of your management pilots a while back. He said the plan is probably going to be to have 787s in most of the bases with MIA likely being the last to see the 78. For whatever that rumor is worth to anyone...

Thatís believable when we have the economy of scale to support it. When the 767/330ís disappear the 787ís will replace them. At that time Iíd put good money on that bet, with the 777ís in DFW/MIA/LGA(JFK).

LAX and ORD are already replacing most of the 777 flying with 787s. I think by next spring the 777ís will only be in DFW/MIA/LGA and the 787ís will be LAX, ORD and DFW as the only base with both.

You'd think the 773s, being the largest aircraft in the fleet would follow the money/demand, taking priority over base/fleet commonality. The 772s on the other hand are close in size to the 789s. Right now, the 773s are doing GRU, LHR, EZE and HKN runs only.

Iím not sure how much cargo we leave behind in the 789 v the 772, but I guess they pinched those pennies tight. Iím shocked LAX/777 is going away.

Online says the 787-9 flies 600 nm farther and carries 4 more LD-3 containers.

Only widebodies in ORD are 787-8s, about 13 flights a day. CLT is the only other hub with a single widebody fleet type; A330s. Every other hub is mixed.

Phl is the same. Only has the 330.

I don't count those, they are group 3.

Ya think CLT or PHL might end up seeing a 787 or 777 base in the future due to the loss of 767 in Phl or the loss of a330 in Clt? Iím basing this on the idea that the new 787 are a 1 for 1 trade.

The retiring 767/330/777's will have to be replaced by something. The obvious choice, absent shuffling of the 777 fleet, is the 787. With the 330 they'll be able to fly 3 different capacity aircraft.

Just realize the latest plan only gets rid of 767s and 330-300s. The 333-200s are 10 years newer on average than the 300s and will likely be around in some base TBD for a while.

It doesnít seem likely they would stay when the utilization per day wouldnít justify there existence. I feel like fleet commonality amongst 787 would be a better fit while increasing the utilization rate

Hard to wrap the head around 777 retirements. Thatís the new jet to most of us.

Soooooo, rumor in the school house from a very good source is the 767 (bid status) will be around through 2022-24. Grain of salt...

I think the company has already announced that just the A333ís are going and A332ís are staying. 772 - yeah, thatís hard to contemplate.

Apparently that deal fell through a couple months ago. It was around the same time the rumors of the 190 staying around a little longer started.

I think that was already disclosed. There just won't be any 767's. Or a precious few. It will be mostly 757's. By then the older 787-8's will be the "cheapie" throw away jet we use like we use the 767 today :D.

The deal has happened, but only for 7 319's.
