Hi, considering a move to the states to do some regional flying more or less for the exposure to a different part of the world/operation. I've read some articles regarding people's concerns about information sharing between US agencies ie FAA/TSA/FBI/Homeland security. Curious to know what is shared, is there anything I should be aware of coming from Australia?

Thanks in advance.

We can’t answer that as this is an open forum.
And we don’t know if you’re really from ‘Straya

Anyone getting significant flight training (most certificates, any large aircraft training including airline training) in the US has to either be a citizen or request clearance from TSA. You'll have to submit some personal info and fingerprints

TSA is part of homeland security, so by definition info is shared. Presumably the FBI has visibility and may participate in the background check. Safe to assume they all share info fully.

I don't know if the FAA has anything to do with it, no real need as far as I know. TSA handles aviation security.

If you're a "regular guy" with a clean record from an allied nation such as Oz, it should just be a formality. No reason to worry... unless you have something to worry about, in that case assume they'll find out.

If you have something to hide, or just don't want to share info with the USG, better stay home. But if you're not a bad guy, your info will only exist on a hard drive somewhere, not like they're going to spy on you or anything... they don't have enough money to spy on all the actual bad guys, much less conspiracy theorists.
