India's Jet in cargo venture talks with FedEx-paper

Mon Feb 8, 2010 10:31pm

MUMBAI, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Jet Airways Ltd (JET.BO (http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=JET.BO)), India's largest private carrier, is in initial talks with FedEx Corp (FDX.N (http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=FDX.N)) to launch a dedicated cargo airline, the Mint newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing sources.

The new airline would be set up either as a joint venture or in alliance with FedEx, the newspaper said, quoting an unidentified independent consultant and two unnamed executives of Jet Airways.

A spokeswoman for Jet told Reuters she was unaware of the development.

Do you really want to fly the indian routes?

I personally have no problem bringing the cargo to a country an letting their pilots fly it from there. That the very right our union is fighting for by fighting cabotage in our country.

Training Indian pilots to fly the 727 was recently ruled "cruel and unusual punishment" by the Copenhagen ICAO federal judge.........."protect essential?! what the heck is dat!"
