6 Aircraft agreements with United were extended, and 7 new aircraft in April.

They renewed 6 aircraft that we're already flying for united for another 18 months past september 2013. We're getting an additional (growth) 7 aircraft starting to come online in april of this year.

So is it official?

RgrMurdock

Yeah it's official. As far as upgrade. They want to hire 100 over the next few months. To put things in perspective, we're sitting on around 270-80ish pilots. If you got in now you could be a line holding FO almost immediately... maybe even middle/senior FO. Upgrade would be dependent on attrition which would be anyone's guess.

Are you guys preparing to be short staffed? Or have you been sitting fat for quite a while? Were hiring around 120ish pilots in the next couple months. Currently the schoolhouse is booked up to April starting classes, and growing. On top of that, they're RUMORING shipping out the kiddies in the simulators to Houston, another place I can't think of, and Paris, France.... The Paris one came from an HR personnel, so we'll see... But the above is official. We all got the letter today in grounschool. We'll be holding lines within a month out of the first day of IOE. . Keep that seniority rollin' .

All these regionals hiring hundreds of pilots this year. Where are they all going to come from, and when will they run out of qualified applicants?

When PNCL says "no more furloughs", you have hit the regional shortage.

Well, yeah I understand what you are saying, but given Trans States' history a little good news is certainly welcome, I'm sure. If those were growth aircraft at mainline, that would be even better.

Though a bunch of CRJ-200s are getting parked elsewhere, the addition of aircraft at any given carrier is maybe a sign of the economy slowly recovering?

This year they'll be coming from Comair. Next year? Pinnacle.

Good to hear this news for the TSA guys. You've been bent over for too long. I have former Comair pals there, and having Stamper is a big plus.

So guys with 5-10 years seniority end up getting furloughed at companies like Comair and Pinnacle. Meanwhile other companies are hiring at first year pay. Seems like forced turnover to keep compensation low.

It appears to me that a senior Pilot group at the Regionals is merely temporary and may indicate rough sailing ahead. Skywest appears to be an obvious exception - What other regionals are stable - Horizon? Eagle?
