Any of you enthusiasts out there who are really looking to land a job flying an RJ.... SKYW is interviewing at EAA Oshkosh. Simulator and all. You just need to pay for admission. Find their booth. Bring your logbooks, pass the oral and sim, then get your class date.

I didn't believe that they are doing interviews at EAA, but I met one of the recruiters today. Anyone interested here's your opportunity instead of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Their strategy is to get people who "LOVE AVIATION." Lol. Times are a changin... Good luck

I guess my question is, if they are this desperate right now, what are the regionals going to do in 5-10 years when the majors are sucking them dry? Honestly, hardly any major hiring going on right now and the regionals are scrambling to fill classes?

I just find this funny. Guess pilots realize Skywest is just another regional. Having the same issues every other one is by doing this desperate move.

Some of us predicted that regionals will do every and anything except pay higher wages and when that's the only option left, they'll shoot themselves in the head. Just more of the same here.

Well it's a great way to interview and leave the suit behind. No way I'd wear a suit to Oshkosh!

They are just another regional, but they have historically had slightly higher than average standards...their 1000 hour requirement and sim check were not the norm for most regionals, although there's more to it than that.

With the playing field leveled at 1500 hours, maybe they are trying to get ahead of a suspected impending shortage. I don't think they are desparate to hire all-comers, but I do think they want first shot at the better candidates, and I can't think of many better places to look than Oshkosh...everybody attending probably has better-than-average interest and knowledge about aviation, and a good chance of some aerobatic experience.

If they were desperate, they'd be doing interviews at flight schools.

As opposed to air shows? Actually there is a flight school there. Fox valley technical college. They are doing on site interviews there too. Met the recruiter in Chicago.

Back in my day, Skywest along with Pinnacle, Horizon, Piedmont, and Skyway (RIP) did all come to flight schools (UND in my case) to interview. I'm sure they made trips to Riddle, Purdue, FIT and all the other usual suspects.
