Smile Narita Noodle Shop

Folks, I'm a retired Polar Tiger 747-400 pilot. Spent many a night in Narita. Here's what I am after --- the recipe for the Red Pepper Noodle Soup from the noodle shop at the top of the hill across the street from Mickey D's.

This noodle shop is, or was, a must stop for all crews on layover in Narita.

If this noodle shop is still open and still frequented by aircrews, can somebody find out the ingredients of this super red pepper noodle soup.

Thanks, Bill at [email protected]...

You're talking about Ramen Bayashi, they moved down the street several years ago and are near the Barge Inn. I have no idea about the recipe, but here's what it should look like when you're done:

Definitely a Must on a Cold, Damp, Windy January Evening, with a side of gyoza.

Default Rotsa' Ruck!

It's a closely held secret. Good luck getting it. Many have tried, none have succeeded.

Thanks folks for the very expeditious replies.

HSLD --- that's it, that's what I'm looking for. Now my grandkids won't think I'm so senile.

Redeye --- yes, the gyoza with a tall Sapporo

Done some more searching on the web, best find was something called "shisen men" (ie, red chili pepper noodle soup).

Here's the recipe that's close but not the "real thing": Authentic Hot & Spicy Sichuan Noodle Soup » The Official Ramen Homepage | The Official Ramen Homepage

Will continue to fine the "real deal" recipe. If successful, I'll let ya'll know.

Fly Safe, Bill

Unfortunately, if we knew the Real recipe, we probably wouldn't eat it. Some things are best left unknown.

You would probably never eat real Chinese food if that were the case.

Near where the Barge Inn used to be. The Barge (and that building) is gone.
