Default kix stargate hotel?

I have a short layover coming up in kix and looks like we will be at the stargate hotel. Anybody have any recommendations for eating or drinking places around there? Irish pubs or happy hours?
Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly, it is not very English language friendly in the area. That being said, there is a shopping center around the Ferris wheel next to the hotel. Plenty of food places, just be prepared to point at pictures to order.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I really appreciate it. I did a search on tripadvisor and not much appeared with reviews in english, so it will be interesting. I am proficient at pointing at the pictures - some of my best meals have begun with trying to politely gesture at the most delicious looking picture. Will look around the ferris wheel area as you mentioned. Thanks again! Cheers!

Ok, heres what I remember--
1. So-so breakfast buffet on top floor
2. Building sways in high winds (placard in room says this is normal)
3. Gym is not affiliated, but free. Water out of fountain is not.
4. Climbing stairs is a good workout.

We used to go to Lonestar Restaurant which is a little inland from the first train stop towards downtown (Izumisano).

Our usual flight (MD11 from TPE) gets in too late to get food at the hotel. The restaurant in the tower next door is loud, average food and everyone smokes. Haven't had the energy to find anything else.

Someone told me there was a noodle shop nearby, but it closes within 20 minutes of our arrival.

While I appreciate not having a long cab ride to the Swisshotel, I'll take that any day. The air conditioning at the at the Stargate blows. Not a lot of english for the few of us who are not fluent in Japanese (insert sarcasm emoticon here).

Thanks for the replies guys. All much appreciated. Sounds like we need to submit PORs about the place letting the hotel folks as well as the union know that this location is not satisfactory and not conducive to us getting proper rest.
Thanks again!

I know KIX/Osaka pretty well and you are basically out in the boonies. My guess is English won't go too far but in the past few years most restaurants in Japan seem to have started offering something in English.

A train ride to Namba/Umeda (the two main drags so to speak) are a 40+ min train ride away from Izumisano.

The Ferris wheel mentioned earlier is called Rinku town. Actually haven't been there but it's worth a try. As a last resort, the restaurants in the main airport terminal are pretty good, but they are closed by 9 or 10pm. A crew badge will likely get you a discount.
