Atlas / Southern

Makes sense. Probably a few 777 pax birds laying around like the -8i, although they probably are older and have more time/wear, etc. but may be cheaper to operate - heck if I know. How many 777 pax birds do we have? Never really dove into our inventory as of late, or the bank’s inventory for that matter. Good point.

And you’ll get to fly them for $10/hr. less than your counterparts at OMNI. A po-dunk 300 pilot airline…

Hiring
What’s the latest with hiring at Southern and Atlas, struggling to fill classes or still fine with the current crop of regional pilots?
I heard they are looking at Aussie pilots on the E3 visa again, however It’s just what I heard from somebody, don’t know how true it is. I presume there is a lot of unhappiness though within the group regarding the new contract so people will move on.
Does anybody expect mass resignations or any kind of difficulty for the Atlas group to maintain the current numbers they have?

Nothing really new as it ebbs and flows. Probably a bigger rush to the door after the contract was unveiled and most outfits are planning to hire massively for the foreseeable future. 1-3 year mark jump mostly but that’s not new, 4-5 years those hoping for a contract of significance will jump as well. You have a few beyond the 5 year mark as they probably have had their apps in anyway just before CvD19. Last year we were a safe haven so unsurprisingly there should be bigger flush and that seems quite obvious from my standpoint.

Many new pilots will appreciate the hedging security that comes with flying at Atlas as well as the constant adventure in the destinations we go to. Also you get to fly heavies.

I personally expect the economy to crash and pax flying to dwindle again. The country has just pushed this COVID economic recession back. We are in the eye of the hurricane... except now the government can't bail people out
