Atlas or Frontier?

Maybe this will help you in your decision - or maybe not.... Not sure if she was on the 747 at Atlas or Kalitta:

Regardless of what you think about the video or her opinion, the point is very clear - make sure you understand what you are getting into and the type of flying you will do! She admits in the end that she did not understand the scheduling (and potential for extending beyond 17 days).

Many may have different results, but I have been extended on “the schedule” twice now in 4 years. At least there is some compensation for it plus other ways to mitigate surprise with compensation.
***Thanks for the reminder = Dropping my GDO in now. Our limited “Guaranteed Day Off” inputs have worked at least for me and if it didn’t $$$.
Granted I and some others write from a different perspective having been military. Try extending by weeks, a month or some friends of mine have been extended by months being deployed and we had no additional pay above and beyond. Limited contract or not, still nice having something.

You are correct. Dead giveaway as the other outfit indicates 17 days, extendable to 20 (Our Reserve lines are alike) and not extendable beyond 20 without pilots consent. Although the video mentioned 30-40+ days out which is possible but not without checking the box consenting to ignore the 5 days allotted between trips from base and/or bidding for back to back runs or worse - forgetting to bid or just seniority having its way with you. Just out base and be done with it. Having a larger fleet does help sometimes trying not to be stuck, but changes are rampant to be honest. All I care about is when I depart and when the plan shows going home and sticking to it. Everything in between is sometimes great and not so great, it is what it is.

Agreed. I've personally steered many mil aviators away from Atlas. It's not even close in terms of compensation and QOL. You'll make more as a mil part timer and be able to fund two retirements.

While the money isn't everything....it sure makes a difference. The pay sucks at both. So now while you are away from home you are also going broke. Hire on a 747 at UPS and at 200k plus on 2nd yr, suddenly the job and schedule isn't that bad.

Nothing here that you stated are incorrect. I was responding to the video post about Nancy and her rant about QOL at Western which there is a big difference from Atlas.
