So the first month 100hrs was Bid Line Guarantee and the second month was 145 credit hours which neither will be using the CRT of 17 days pure using 4.85hrs daily credit for a total of 82hrs or so or 164hrs CRT for 2 months. Total work was 32 days for two months which would only gain 155hrs. Therefore the line was worth 100hrs BLG based on flying (unsure if art 33 was included). Was the second line near 100hrs like the first month but had the additional 45 hrs of credit due to “displaced for training” credit and they added flying to your line? That was my case and the hour’s credited was exceptionally higher than average by far, but definitely not the norm by far. Curios on the breakdown if available. Maybe VX/overtime included on second month?

First month is 84 hours credit with 19 hours of Article 33 credit (which is calculated as 75% in the Payroll Document), pays 37.51 above guarantee (101.51 hours)
Second month is 94 hours of credit with 53 hours of Article 33 credit, pays 81.70 above guarantee (145.70 hours).

The company email just recently clarified that Article 33 is pay protected as greater of Article 33 BLG, or actual Article 33 flown.

Article 33 isn’t guaranteed until it is actually flown (I keep hearing that it is, but it i haven’t found it in the draft CBA….) But don’t bank on it because your schedules do change.

My self had about 50 plus hours Article 33 flying in October that go dropped down to 30 something hours due to a schedule changed. Still not bad depending on the credit value of your awarded line.

I will be enjoying mi Fixed Pattern Line next year.
For the time being, Article 33 is guaranteed. There was a company email confirming that.
"BLG also includes any applicable Article 33 premium pay, which is a separate calculation from the sum of credits"
"Crewmembers are paid above guarantee for the greater of
actual Article 33 flying for the month or Article 33 BLG."

On the payroll document it includes that credit in the above guarantee pay row, which is your BLG for that month.

I just reread the email. Thanks

Thank you for the clarification. Definitely agree at the current time this is what we do. I myself do not believe for a second this will be the new normal although I wish it were. 3 months ago it wasn’t or was it 4? Art 33 will only hold for so long going into the “Red Zones” if you will. When CVD19 kicked off China itself was an “opt in/opt out” situation at 150% pay; therefore, it was situational, then the next MOA or MOU the trigger was Level 4 areas of concern. Those of us rolling into Afghanistan also accrued the additional 50% which brought your benefit up to 200%. That was relatively short lived due to world events. China fell off the table rapidly according to the “authorities” and we got nothing up until Sep/Oct. Using this logic, it is situational dependent and feast or famine. Not your normal “guarantee” you will be paid as a reliable source of income. Just like the $94 per diem rates were instituted just after we had been authorized for $50 additional a day food expenditures on top of our past $57.60 ($2.40 per hour) rates. Realize we had $107.60 per day for a short period before the $94 rate came about creating a $13.60 savings back to the company and now the $2.75 domestic or $3.50 international per the new CBA. I am not complaining but merely showcasing the rapid changes within our pay that is situation dependent. ***Come early 2022 the art 33 into China could very well disappear once we’re past peak season*** just my pennies worth of thoughts. Hopefully the demand, customer satisfaction and of course profit margins will keep this $ flow going, but what is designated art 33 changes as much as the tides in Incheon. What is paid as guarantee is different from what you will be guaranteed every month. What we’re really discussing is pay potential, especially when new hires may roll in 6 months from now and the criteria for art 33 changes once again or a signed agreement times out…. Timing is everything!

*Fixed pattern sounds great, especially for those who need to project your schedule well in advance regarding holidays, vacations, etc. My only worry is if these fixed patterns are truly fixed flying like the MEM recruits are executing and become monotonous. I will say we are very much plug and play so the variety will hopefully be available perhaps. I will watch like the fixed patterns like I have watched the MEM lines from afar looking for goodness.

I flew cargo in the USAF and flew for NetJets from 2005-2017 (lost my medical). Both jobs let you be home based, which is very nice. But boy talk about apples vs. oranges.

NetJets, good things. Home based unless you live in the boondocks, keep your airline and hotel rewards. Fantastic family health insurance at NO cost to you and no deductible to meet. Meet some interesting people, you will fly celebrities on all aircraft but more so on the larger jets. I always flew light cabin jets and mostly saw sports people. You quickly learn celebrities just want to be treated like regular people. All the ones I flew were nice or at least neutral.

Netjets flies to over 4000 airports. Again, depending on the jet you'll see a lot of out of the way airports that can be challenging to fly into. You'll probably see a new airport every trip. After 12 years it was still unusual for me not to see a new airport on a tour.

Salary wise you can make over $100K first year. Lots of extra $$ to be made flying optional schedules. The 7 on 7 off is standard, everyone can hold it you just bid for the start day. You can schedule family events months in advance on the 7/7. Something new since I was there is the 8 on/6 off. 16% pay boost. And there's the 72 and 76 day schedule (days flown over 4 months) that pay even more. Another new thing is Flight Duty Pay. Over 10 hours in a tour and you get $128/hr (might have gone up). It'd be rare not to get more than 10 hours on a tour. 1/3 of that goes into a 401k that does not reduce what you can contribute. They've also got a very large 401k company contribution.

You always get a min of 3 days off after a trip. Upgrades are getting better because of all the new jets coming in. Also it's a fairly old pilot group. Many pilots will fly into their 70's since there's no mandatory retirement. Backside of the clock flying is very rare and is usually associated with sports events that run late. A few times I've landed after 3am but that was just a handful in 12 years.

Bad things: Layovers are not that great. Normally you get around 12 hours, sometimes min rest if you're running late. Anything over 12 hours and you're usually on hotel standby with a 30 minute callout. My best layovers were when the jet broke.
You're doing it all, putting pax catering in the cabinet, loading the bags (line guys usually help), cleaning the jet after a pax leg, checking the stock, etc. At the NetJets major hubs you'll have help with this. If you're looking to move on to a major NetJets isn't the place to be as you don't get that much time compared to flying for a regional. That has changed somewhat recently thou. They've had to shut down sales and have a waiting list because they can't meet demand. They're getting new jets as fast as they can.

I've done long flights overnight flying cargo and they're not fun. It's really comes down to what you want to do. Atlas has had very contentious labor relations over the years. NetJets and the in house union get along fairly well now. We've made ourselves such a PITA in previous years and gotten some major contract improvements. Company and Union usually work well together.

One last thing, in the event of a family emergency NetJets will bend over backwards to get you home, even up to the point of flying you there in a company jet if it's serious enough. I've seen it done a number of times.

Also consider that NetJets is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, a company with very deep pockets. They also own Flight Safety. I don't know the Atlas corporate structure. Might be something worth considering if the economy goes south.

Yes, I tried to make it clear that this was just a singular data point during the current situation, and it should not be extrapolated far into the future.
I agree with you, I don't think this is sustainable for long. I just did a ICN-HKG-ICN turn with 3 CAs. They were all making over $500/hr on that day turn, the LCA was close to $600/hr.

Budget for 64 and you will never be disappointed. But at this current time, there are opportunities to make very good money. When Art. 33 dries up, I think that's when you will see a second attrition spike.

On the mark, sometimes your making a killing and other times it’s what it is and still quite equitable at least the line guarantee has been helpful if not more stabilizing of your pattern expectations. Attrition will be even greater as the Big 3/5 and others ramp up so we’ll see what lies ahead as everything dries up.

The BLG also sort of guarantees you won't really make 64 hours apart from very few select months, unless they start building lines with 16 days off.

We live in interesting times. Next year will be quite the ride.
