Will the interview seriously come down to "To Tie or Not to Tie"?
The entire process is point based. You get so many points for the resume, the online test, the phone interview, MIA interview, internal rec, etc. and you make the cut or not. Your score also determines when you come out of the pool.

If it's 'use your best judgement' then do just that. I think the key is to be able to articulate the decision that you made.

During my interview everyone in MIA stressed over and over that there was no trickery and that Dr. Phill wasn't watching hidden cameras to see if you took the bottle of water or not. They really want you to succeed at that point.

As long as you don't show up wearing only a tie, you have a fighting chance.

Cargo - love your avatar. I am recent BGE owner and cook on it at least 4-days a week.

Fingers crossed,

Timmy

Don't stress about what to wear at the interview. I will make it easy for y'all. Wear a suit without a tie and you will have it nailed. Just make sure it fits and your shoes are polished. Relax, smile, and enjoy the experience. The job is yours to blow at that point.

Jesus, can't believe that there actually is a f@@king debate about, whether or not to wear a tie. I've seen many of the new hires while they were here interviewing for the job wearing a tie, and they're still here.

Put this tie crap to rest, along with the military conversion mess.

Rant over!!!!!

Does anyone know if those who are going to interview later in the month had to do the online test? Didn't see it if it's been posted already.

the guys i know that have been called to interview had completed the phone interview/online test late last year and hadn't been called yet to interview when we parked the Classics. I believe the first guys to get called were those that had their interviews cancelled back in Jan/Feb.

Ahhh....that makes sense. So, no calls yet that we know about to the recent applicants?

I submitted by resume and PAQ last week so now I'll join the rest of you in the waiting game.

I look forward to chatting and partaking in a few adult beverages over the grill in MIA when we all hopefully get hired.

My background is military (retiring Jan 2013) KC-10 and currently G-Vs

I am 10s too. I also have a mil commitment until beginning of 13. Hoping they are still running classes then.

Wow! That’s a pretty hostile reaction. It has been my experience that as pilots, attention to detail is extremely important when it comes to flying. We tend to apply that to anything related to flying as well, such as getting a job in this extremely competitive industry. Having said that, and in my honest opinion, I believe that ironing out details about yes whether to wear a tie or not or whether the military conversion factor is correct or being used correctly is no less important than any other information on here especially to these guys trying to get hired.

I wouldn’t want to be the guy(s) sitting there trying to explain why I have an exorbitant amount of hours because I used the conversion wrong or the guy(s) who never got the interview, because he didn’t make the minimums because he didn’t use the conversion factor the way it was intended.

I also wouldn’t want to be the guy who shows up wearing a tie when not a single other soul in the room is wearing one and vice versa. Optional.

To guys like us who have been on the line enjoying the privilege of this job, maybe some of this stuff could seem trivial, but I believe to these guys, every little detail is important to them especially when getting it right the first time could very well affect their livelihood. In earlier posts, industry discussions and speculations about what was going to happen to all these other cargo carriers and charters flooded the threads with what I thought was a lot of information that was useless in getting these guys hired. It’s important to them and what the spirit of this thread is about…the details.
I mean all of this with the greatest in respect Giant as a fellow line pilot.
Regards,
JT

Wonderful JT. You wrote what I, and I'm sure many others, we're thinking. Thanks for the support.
