Your gateway is from your home airport. The pairing could start with something like a JFK-BWI deadhead, but instead you can just go from your gateway airport to BWI.

I had the pre-interview phone call with the hiring lady - she told me they're hiring into all airframes right now, with the 747 having the most openings. You tell them your preference, and they will take it into consideration, along with your flight times, and how your interviews go, when deciding which airframe they assign you. I didn't specifically ask about holding out for one, but the impression I got is that in the end, you get what you get.

Of course, you can always bid for a different plane after the seat lock is up (I think I've heard people say it's 24 months for new hires).

So, I’m curious. Would anybody who has put in an app and gotten a response care to share how long it took for HR to get back to them?

(No internal recs here, but qualified by what I’ve seen. 12,500TT, 5,500PIC. Nearly all turbine pt.121)

I think it was about 3 weeks for me. My application status still said 'Under Review' when I received an email to set up a phone conversation.

For me it was an internal rec. I had my app in for a year, and got the phone screen the same day my resume was pushed forward by the internal.

About 4 weeks for me. The status changed to hidden and I got an email to set up a phone interview.

They’ve had it for a couple of weeks, so, fingers crossed.

I recently spoke with a guy who left them a couple of months ago. He lasted less than a year, (they had a kid, so the schedule became impossible with the newborn). He said half of his class had already left, and several more were sitting on CJO’s. Their attrition is very high at the moment.

Most hired in 2020 had no plans on staying anyway

Meh….you kinda have to see that in a particular context.
Yes, more then half of the departures are on property less then a year. Fact.
Now these cats don’t leave for a regional, they leave mostly for the Majors.
So that’s a good thing, for them.
Shows that even a short stint at Atlas makes you more marketable.
In addition if you hire a lot of former military (any branch really), these pilots just need a civilian type and 5-700 hrs 121.
Coming from a SE fighter you’ll need some 121 Multi engine multi crew time to perk up your resume.
In addition, if you hire furloughed pilots or from an airline that tanked in ‘20, you’ll loose most of those to the Majors as that was their goal all along too. They were just looking for a seat when the music stopped.
Domestic situation recovered quicker then expected and now the floodgates are open.
But there’s a little bit more nuance to it then just “all the newbies quit”.
