777 training and schedule
Where is the 777 sim training done?
Are you likely to get it as an initial type and would it be possible to commute from Brisbane on the east coast of Australia to the LAX base? By that I mean would Atlas allow or be willing to allow an international commute.
Also how different are the 747 and 777 schedules? I realize the 747 is 17 days and can be broken up etc but is the 777 the same or completely different schedule?
Many thanks in advance.

You will be asked during your interview which aircraft type you prefer. They will try to honor your request. However, in the end it is dependent on the company’s need.
You will be on your own from Australia to the US. Once in the US you will be provided a ticket to your base (LAX o CVG for the 777).
30 or 60 day patterns are probably pretty close between the 747 & 777. 8 of the Triples fly for DHL and 1 for Caino (Alibaba). The express freight trips are subject to less changes than the wide breadth of customers that the 747 serves.
777 Training is in Miami mostly using a company owned sim or one of several other MIA sims.

would it be a big deal living in Hawaii but taking the 747 with regards to commuting etc? Do you know if they have started hiring Aussies on E3 visas again? I have the FAA ATP, 4 year degree and about 4000 hours 121 time plus about 2000 part 135 time.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. Clearly the 777 seems to be the more stable prospect. However to fly the 747 would be a dream. I would like to live in Hawaii for an LAX base on the 777 and being close to home and being able to visit my family in Brisbane often.

FedEx does not prefer a 767 type. Everyone goes through the same training. We actually prefer you not coming in with preconceived, well at _______ we did it this way.
