AtlasFacts.org has mostly Southern Air facts.
Hey All,
My Wife thinks that I should apply to Atlas because we have several friends who fly there who are relatively senior at about the 10 year seniority point, who think that things are "great" there. I think I know better just from reading all these Atlas threads, but would like to know more. AtlasFacts.org pretty much only addresses the Southern Air bait and switch and very little Atlas facts. Is there anywhere on here that addresses the truth of realistic expected pay, 747/767 schedules, benefits, imputed income, morale, upgrade time, reserve time, etc. in one succinct thread other than reading through 1700 threads? Thanks. |
Did you not read thru the links at the bottom of that page at Atlasfacts.org?
|
If you have several friends that work there maybe you could ask them? Or trust ransoms on the internet...

Good point, but my friends there are all single with no kids and have a different outlook than junior folks. This is true at any airline. You know, the A and B Scale pilots wondering what the C Scale pilots are so ****ed about. They are also not planning on going anywhere.
If I were IBT 1108, I would have a realistic expectations link that looked something like this: FIRST YEAR PAY - $xxxxxx RESERVE TIME - x months/years UPGRADE TIME - x years VACATION - x weeks per year BENEFITS - xxxxx IMPUTED INCOME - xxxxxxx Just an idea. |

Reserve time - depends on aircraft/base. 767 CVG reserve lines can be anywhere from 40-60% of available bid lines. Upgrade time - under 3 years, both fleets. This will not be the case for you. Vacation time - you earn vacation time based on time on property. Unless you're hired Jan. 1, you may only have a partial week or two to bid, but in general, two weeks after you've been here a full year. Benefits - medical/dental are okay, I guess. 401k match the same as the regional I came from. But hey - that FedEx discount! Imputed income - varies wildly. Some bases get imputed, some don't. Prob worst in ANC? |
I really mean no disrespect, but if you prefer to have a one-stop source for all the information rather than having to read multiple threads, Atlas MAY not be a great fit. NOTHING he is one-stop and flight crews are left to fend for themselves and figure it out daily.
That said, look in the Hiring section and read the "Atlas Air Hiring" thread. ALL your questions are answered there. Read it all and you will have a very good picture of this place and how it has evolved over time. |

Thanks, and no offense taken. I have been reading that thread for years, but was looking for something official from the union vs. anonymous postings, therefore more accurate and official. LOL, I'm not one of those guys that's going to ask on here "what equipment do you all fly".
Let me ask you a question. How do you think it feels to go to work for a management team that constantly launches lawsuit after lawsuit against you and your fellow pilots to cover up their inability to run an airline? If you really are a pilot (not a company paid attorney) and if you have done as much research as you say you have, you are not looking for the truth on how bad Atlas is, you are looking for the answer that fits your desired outcome. |

Just so I understand you correctly, you want answers that are official from the union? That certainly is interesting...

I thought that, being a Union guy, that I would get more accurate information from IBT 1108 than I would get from anonymous posts on here. AtlasFacts.org is a good start, but they could do a better job if they want to chase prospective applicants away: They already made a great list to chase pilots away from Southern.. Why not Atlas too? Hell, I'll write it for them pulling from the threads here. Also, a simple search of my posts will show you that I am a rabid Union guy and far from a Company hack. I pretty much wrote Atlas off from what I've read here, but my friends talk about it like it is a different airline and that I am screwing up by not applying. If I did interview with Atlas, I think when I tell them that I am only interested in the Amazon B767 flying that they will show me the door anyway, LOL.:D Best of luck to you all. |
