We do line bidding. So, you may be given 100 lines to chose from, and you rank order your preferences.
Trip trading is "allowed" at the discretion of the company, which means that in reality we do not have trip trading.
What fleet are you being hired into? If it's the 777/767, start studying general knowledge stuff like ETOPS or NAT/oceanic contingency procedures. Oh, and learn how to use proper ICAO radio phraseology. Seriously.

I’m 747, but we have a solid 80+ hired in from Compass. I’ll take a look at more of the oceanic stuff but being Mil, I’m blessed to have that and ICAO history. Good call on brushing up on that stuff though.
I’m guessing bidding wise, there’s a software you use at least?
The only Mil Pax halls I’ve seen is the BWI Lines. 767 flights with a Giant callsign.

Again, we don't publicly divulge information about military flights.

How does bidding work in general? Do you just get all the lines and list priorities?
Do they allow trip trades?
Lastly, I want to start studying something. How can one get ahold of memory items or training documents to read on? Is it risky to take a look at YouTube videos on systems?
COVID has me a bit bored...

The YouTube videos for 767 systems are pretty trustworthy. Honestly though I would just wait till training. You’ll have more than enough time to learn everything. Like someone said in an earlier post it couldn’t hurt to start glancing at ETOPS/NAT stuff. Nailing down proper phraseology would be good too. It’s a super big deal when you start flying worldwide. I thought I knew how to talk on the radios, then I came to Atlas. Hahaha

I totally understand that and wouldn't want anyone to share anything that is SSI. I have a 74 class date coming up and was looking at flight aware just trying to get a feel for the pax (not just military) to cargo ratio.

To some extent, the amount of pax flying will depend on what base you are able to hold. However, keep in mind that overall the vast majority of the flying that we do across all fleet types is cargo flying. Best of luck with your upcoming class.

True, very true/same here. With Knox’s input regarding arbitration (which we kind of figured, but I had no timeline reference) it is definitely open to more long legs of opinion until the hammer falls. Oh boy.

Mar-Jun2020:
12 day trip
14 day trip
10 day trip
6 day trip
11 day trip
3 day trip (training on days off...not my preference)
16 day trip
I would guess I do a 17 day trip once every 3-4 months or so. Most of my trips are 6-16 days.
