Can any of you Atlas pilots verify if you guys are under hotel confinement in Narita on your layovers? Thx

Just be sure to read the in-processing paperwork. There were choices given and you must sign at the bottom and we are now back to the International Garden Hotel last month vs close to the airport. Example: Hotel Confinement vs do not enter the city! Can’t remember the 3rd choice. It didn’t define City. Tokyo proper which is a huge area or the prefecture itself? Don’t know why anyone would mark the first one mentioned. I wouldn’t be tooling around downtown Tokyo for sure.

Vague enough, mmmmhummm...

Honest question: wouldn't you prefer a union guy as the next Chief Pilot, all things being equal? If choosing between a random line pilot and a pilot who has been standing up against the company and defending the pilots, wouldn't the second guy be preferred as the new Chief?

You ask a fair question. The situation speaks more to failure of leadership within our own organization. He may, in fact be awesome. It's our duty to support him regardless. That's our job. I honestly wish him the best.

Regarding our organization, these selections don't occur instantly. There was a significant period where his duties to fight on the pilot's behalf were in conflict with his requirements to avoid making waves to get the position. Had he stepped out of some or all of his duties he would have proven to be not just informed, but upright and capable of making hard decisions. Our leaders would have proven their mettle too. I think decisions about this were made above his level.

Instead a path of secrecy was taken. Like I said, I think these decisions were made above him. He may be awesome.

I believe Atlas provides a hotel for crews based there, so they would not need a crash pad.

Haven't been or seen a crash pad with us in let's say forever. Maybe it's just me. Hotel provided as well as ticket via gateway.

Any updates on contract negotiations?

I know the ISL between was Atlas, Southern was a major step forward to putting the ball in the company's courts to TA remaining items. I'm rooting for you guys; hopefully you get something, at minimum, as good as K4's contract.

Proposals on compensation have gone across the table to management and we have an agreement in principle with Southern for seniority list integration. Ultimately it will still come down to an arbitrator's decision. Same time frame and outlook as before, basically.

I think the question was asked on behalf of a non-Atlas/Southern pilot who is moving to ANC...
