.
Choose between work or sitting at home unemployed.
Easy choice no matter how bad you seem to want to make it.

it really sucks, because you have no time for your wife at home or on the road. Double whammy. Buy, hey - you look cool in front of the GE motor on tinder.
Beats commuting to SCR at a regional to sit in a crash pad with 11 days off per month.... It’s all perspective.

When you're used to commuting to 6 day blocks of reserve three times a month, ending up with 8 actual days at home, 18 days out in one block isn't too bad. I enjoy it, my wife doesn't mind it, and my kids have learned to adjust to it. It's not ideal, but it's a steady paycheck while others are getting furloughed. Gotta keep looking for that silver lining if you're gonna make it in this career.

I get it. Just expect the worst. Life on the 777 is the real deal. Settle in.

Not ideal by any means, but I must admit - having employment during this exact moment is far better than the anxiety being felt by others awaiting their fate 1 Oct, 1 Jan, Mar.... 2021, 22... especially those who are already on the street for several months now. Having employment from where you can safely reach out to your more desirable of opportunities is a blessing. Granted it is much more competitive now in this industry. Timing for this statement about a year ago definitely makes sense. At the current moment this is actually a Climate Change if you will...

*My wife would rather I be on the road able to earn a living, paying bills then staring at my worried face and wondering how long this dilemma will last and what future it may hold, etc, etc, etc....

Oh, I'm pretty well settled in. Granted, I'm on the 747 as a mid-pack FO. I understand the 777 schedules hold together a little better than ours, but I'm sure they also have rotations that make you question your sanity as well. I prefer the 60 day lines. 12-14 days on at a time with 10-12 off between trips is my happy place. Just enough time to get a break from a house full of screaming kids, while having the ability to enjoy a decent chunk of time at home.

Again, this place is what you make of it. I don't drink the kool aid, but I've enjoyed my time here so far. Wouldn't mind staying here until retirement if we can get a decent contract with solid section 1 protection.

Well said. Unfortunately scope is where the real battle lies, and I’d put money it’s heading to arbitration.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, arbitrators haven't had a great track record with scope in the past. Hopefully we're wrong, but time will tell.

This is so perfect you almost wonder if management coordinated it across the industry. Something like: "We'll make being a regional pilot so sh*tty that Atlas will seem like a good deal. They'll have completely forgotten how good airline pilots used to have it."

Truly impressive.
