PRIA

I thought all that PRIA paperwork was supposed to catch these training deficiencies? Wasn't that the point of PRIA?

Seems like PRIA came about after the Raliegh Saab crash where that pilot was not completely forthcoming with his past history. Correct me if I am remembering wrong.

I so loved filing out all those PRIA forms!

I believe he only revealed that he worked for Mesa prior to Atlas employment. During his time at two other airlines he listed school and real estate class or something similar. Seems that Atlas may not have known to check with those airlines if they are not listed.

Easy to blame the deceased. PRIA only goes back 5 years and some airlines offer pilots a plea deal if you are about to fail training. Atlas is to blame for this mess. They knew he was weak in the beginning but that's who they target, "hire the unhirables". They even tell the interviewees, "don't bring your logbook". Scary part of this whole ordeal is, their are much more dangerous pilots currently flying here. It's a matter of when, not if.

A “strong” Captain/FO can balance out the other pilot’s weakness. Most definitely should not be happening, in an ideal world both crewmembers should be at a similar level, but, the Captain had 11k hours, also had training issues, not recommended for his initial type ride.

ANYONE, ANY DAY can have a lapse in judgement/performance, we’ve all done it at some point. What we hope for is that as a crew we use our synergies to counteract the temporary weakness of the other.

PRIA is primarily drug/alcohol testing, and "training records"

if "training records" do not document problems, well, there are no problems.

I also believe PRIA is "most recent" or "current" employer, not every employer you ever had.

So PRIA requests are not sent until the applicant is in the middle of new-hire class.

You couldn't be more wrong, even if you tried.
Go read the AC man, seriously.

Atlas has two other Pilots that I can think of that are known quantity high risk pilots. One they call “Kool-Aide” and the other the “Nirobian Queen”.

One has an extensive history of failures at Atlas, the other has a falsified resume and doesn’t possess the type ratings for the company “it” claims to have worked for.
