Default Latest on Polar?

Whats the latest on Polar Air Cargo? Last I heard, the furloughs are being called back with backpay, 747-200's are gone, and atlas owns them.

Are they gonna starting hiring anytime soon? And do you apply through Atlas or Polar?

Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

First, I'm an Atlas guy, so Polaroids, correct me if I'm wrong.

One -200 at Polar, N516MC in Atlas colors, flying out of ICN.

Hiring at Atlas going on now.

May be some hiring at Polar later this summer, due to attrition.

Arbitration hearing in August for Polar wanting all the classics back that were Atlas's in the first place.

FE's not needed for the -200, again furloughed, Captains not needed, pay reduced back to FO pay. This is a result of Atlas no longer flying any Polar flights, so this makes the arbitrator happy.

We have a lot of attrition. However, there are enought to cover the job.

Arbitration is NOT for wanting all the classics back. It is for the company violating the return to work agreement. It specifically states that all of the captains be reinstated to pay and SEAT. Not just pay. That's hard to due with only one return to service airplane. So the arbirtrations that are set up in August are for Arbitrator Kasher's rulings that the company is clearly violating -to include the Captains that are no longer sitting left seat to get their pay back as they have since been reduced to the F.O. pay. There isn't anymore "alliance flying" for the simple fact that management renamed all of the flights (gave our fllying to Atlas). Hey, nothing we can do about that one.

Flight Engineers were furloughed because of the rewording of who flies what. Again, they were supposed to be returned to their seat as well. Not just pay.

And last they WERE NOT your airplanes. The ariplanes that we had either went to the desert or were sold. Kind of a bull sh&t comment if you ask me. And if I'm wrong, please correct me as I don't mind admitting mistakes. The airplane that we had on the classic side that was yours was 355MC the - 300 series. 516MC yes, was on your certificate and now is over here in ICN flying to Bejing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Which, by the way, is a nice flying airplane.

Atlas is hiring 40 to 50 according to their Chief Pilot. I just checked the website and they have since removed the flight crew information for hiring.

Once UPS starts hiring, that will change. I'm told 20+ have applied out of ANC.

Yes, I did change my mind since the TA on STN. I really wanted to go to Atlas but the STN thing was the only hold back. Now that they fixed that it should be "all good". PM me so we can chat about where to find cheap drinks by the hotel.

If they put you in the Crowne Plaza on LeJeune there's the Catch of the day next door. Their happy hour specials the last time I was there (November) were dollar drafts. Be careful if you're there when the happy hour is over as they get pretty pricey. Make sure you sign up for the points system at the Crowne as they do honor them and after being there for training you'll rack up to the next level.

If they put you at the Hampton out by the Doral, there are things to eat and a liquor store in the little strip mall.

The hiring I was referring to were the two classes that it looks like you guys are in.

ASTAR and POLAR will be combined into one airline. They already have the new paint scheme on one of the 747's.
