Risk it all sounds a bit dramatic
I don't know who you listen to or where do you read those stories...BUT that's a bunch of crap.
No AQP, that's true, but we do have CBTs, failure rates are not high at all. Systems, you're on your own, but there's some ground school and plenty of SIM, like a LOT.
People call it a big boy training program, and it's just that. Don't expect someone telling you what paragraphs to read and when to go to bed. But you have all the material and support you may need to succeed.
No need to get nervous. That won't help you. You need determination and commitment, and then you won't have any problem.
Plenty of manuals yes (FCTM FCOM 1&2 FOM and tons of good PDFs and presentations.

I highlight training issues here sometimes. If you made it through a regional training program, you'll find our environment is less structured and makes some assumptions. We arent particularly challenging, though. There are some differences fleet to fleet, but nothing I'd get wigged-out about.

Got my offer letter and all other information today confirming the 4/18 747 class date. Any advice on good stuff to bring down to MIA, I'm driving down a few days early so any rec's on fun places to stay before Sunday? I see tie first day that only time we will need jacket tie etc?

Virginia Key, Crandon Park, South Beach.... If you have the time, drive down to Key West (4 hour drive). Everglades if you want to see a swamp lolz.
