International Jumpseat

Wondering if Atlas has started allowing international jumpseaters again? If not, any talk of it coming back or is that forever a thing of the past. I used to Jump ANC-HKG regularly pre-Covid.

Wondering the same thing.

Per our union website, “All Atlas Air International flights continue to be temporarily unavailable to other airline (OAL) jumpseaters at this time due to COVID-19.”

Hopefully this policy will be updated soon.

Still not allowed. Few governmental restrictions to figure out.

Ok, China I get (HKG). BUT, Europe is basically wide open, as are a bunch of places in South America. Is Atlas run by the PRC, or competing for some kind of prize?

The US opened only very recently. You still need proof of vaccination to some countries in Europe. There's a lot of red tape still left. Hopefully things get back to normal soon.

So what you're saying is that more paperwork might be required... like a visa or vaccines (like Yellow Fever)? Which was common for decades before COVID upended things. At this point a worldwide restriction is just silly.

FRA Jump Seater

My Miami adventure is finally nearing its conclusion and if my training schedule holds, I might actually make it home to Germany for my wife's birthday; but only if I bust my but to the airport after my last sim, catch the evening AA flight to ORD, then Jump Seat on our flight to FRA. Would it be uncouth to show up with my roll-aboard, flight case, and a big suitcase? I had to pack for four months, so it is a lot. Also, is the crew van big enough that I might hitch a ride to the hotel where I could then cab it to the train station?

Thanks for any advice or recommendations. If I were to try for a commercial flight from MIA to FRA, I will get home a day after my wife's birthday as my sim is mid-day and the schedules just don't jive.
