Big heads are talking about global supply restructuring too. Time will tell whether it's just noise or the start of big restructuring of global logistics. Things will change.

Time to start IN SOURCING, as a matter of national security. But that will take a generation or two. Just like it took 30 years of OFF SHORING to wreck our economy.

‘It’s been time to do that a long time ago but the supply chain disruption is forcing those changes now…

Thanks for further expounding upon the industry method/situation SealingStemBolt. Fortunate to have re-energized this thread (only 2 weeks) which further highlights various outcomes and great insight provided by zerozero, Elevation, Swakid8 and thrustisamust - greatly appreciated. Excellent advice to always be prepared as best you can for what may lie ahead or unforeseen events if you will. Change is inevitable however it may arise. Prepare for the Upset Recovery…

We are actually showing 20 for this month which is .8/day and definitely not 2. As many have stated it will be interesting to see where the trend goes.

Just to clear the air, the attrition from FedEx the aging of the force. We are looking at a 40% turnover in the next few years and if you are curious have hired many Atlas pilots. I personally know one who upgraded after 4 years and could have upgraded sooner but waited until he could hold the left seat in either a LAX or OAK base. He is now a Mad Dog Captain in Oakland. Big plus as a junior seniority pilot, we don't furlough.

Here's my deeply uninformed thought: The future is unpredictable, but it's good to think of possibilities. There's a future where we maintain the status quo, a future where global logistics remain globalized but reorganized away from China and a future where we do, in fact, bring manufacturing on shore. All scenarios take at least five years to start and decades to play out. Resolution on these issues is very, very fuzzy. So these thoughts only apply to the roughest and broadest of decisions. The deeper we delve into possibilities the closer we come to writing a science-fiction novel. It makes me really appreciate my ability to be surprised and value resilience over prescience.

True, we have been the grooming grounds for Purple and Brown predominantly for decades now. Big 3 and the LCC’s have poached more and more this past decade and especially now. My buddy upgraded to left seat in 9 months at Purple, granted it was the move to HKG that accelerated this many moons ago well before the viral debacle. Curiously, what is a “Mad Dog” at Purple?

Sorry I meant to say the 767 on OAK not the MD11. He just started ground school. For the record he was a FO at LAX after 3 years. Low on the totem pole of course. He will be in the mid 50s at OAK.
