Default Application/resume review for Atlas

Has anyone used a resume/application review service for Atlas? Specifically interested in the Pathway to Success program. It seems to be pretty competitive, and I would like some help in being as thoroughly prepared as possible.

Save your money. If you want some confidence that you've done everything you can do to get in, compare and contrast with your friends. Of course, all of us here at Atlas are at Atlas, not at some larger name that people recognize. That means, whether we acknowledge it or not, most of us have failed to make some interview or hiring process somewhere along the way. So maybe don't listen to my interview/application advice?

Question

For the purposes of meeting the required minimums, does turboprop time count as turbine time?

Maybe so, but for a 1500 hr CFI, Atlas is offering one of the best options right now. To me, it seems like the difference between Atlas and any regional more than justifies the expense of being over prepared.

Of course, being brand new to the industry, I'll welcome any advice.

Turboprop time is turbine time. It's why people used to get excited for Beech 99 jobs. You won't be misrepresenting yourself by listing Caravan or King air time as turbine time.

Just make sure you don't list it as turbojet.

Here's a relevant story regarding times and listing things. I think it's appropriate considering the audience.

Back in 2009 I got a friend a lucrative job. We were both working at different locations. He had been flying 19 seat turboprops at a previous company with me. When he got to his worksite he told people he had heavy time. He made an honest mistake, but he was young and from a civilian background.

The people on site were older and mostly from a military background. We had a new contract so there was a lot of dong-measuring to see who would be the next manager of a future site, who would get a sweet, new title, etc. Routine promotion-wrangling nonsense. People get promoted by standing out. Often that means cutting down the people around you. So my friend was an easy target to start with, and he made it worse by accidentally mis-representing himself.

So I show up for another rotation at work, this time at my friend's site. I ask "How is <FakeName> doing?", and I get an earful about how he was lying about his background and how he was an awful person.

I talk to him about it and hear his side of the story. I come to the conclusion that everyone was freaking out over nothing. He didn't lie on his resume or interview. He didn't fake anything in his logbook.

More accurately they were pretending to freak out. By doing so they didn't have attention land on some genuine foul-ups that had been occurring. This happened to some other folks too. One guy got nearly fired for losing equipment when it was never lost and he followed all protocls. Dumb stuff when we had people have heart attacks washing planes in 50C heat.

Anyway my friend is a captain at a LCC now.

I tell this story because there's always some group of folks who will insist you shouldn't be here or anywhere. It's consistently nonsense. Just realize that you will face some judgement and roll with it.

Don't be like me, though. I tell people they're full of crap when I think so. My career has suffered (and progressed) as a result. I know what I'm paying when I choose to open my mouth.

In your positions you need to know the nonsense you'll be facing so you have the fortitude you need. But don't cross that final line to tell people they're listening to their own sales pitch. Also leave the ERAU attitude behind. You're welcome to fly with me when you get here.
