How big of an operation is RCTP (Taipei)?
Thanks to all of the Atlas crewmembers for providing so many detail information. Since someone asked about ICN. Can anyone share any detail information about RCTP operations?
I have seen Atlas 744 and 767 at RCTP on a regular basis. I have not seen any 777 but I'm sure the 777 fly though TPE at times?
1. Is RCTP a common TDY base?
If so, are you consider sitting as R2 or a combination of schedule trips (if you are senior enough to hold it) and R2?
And if it is a TDY base, how senior do you have to be... in order to be able to hold it, and which fleet is commonly use for the TDY operations?
2. Are there any schedule DHs to TPE from ANC or any other main airport operations as part of the schedule freight routes?
3. Which fleet has the highest fly through or has the direct operations from TPE (ie for a specific customer, example: 'Dynasty' was Atlas' first customer in 1993)?
4. Is there a lot of direct ANC - TPE flights each day for cummuting purposes if you are base in ANC and that is your 'gateway'? What about ONT?
5. At this point, ICN seems to be a pretty big operation, will it last long term? Is there a lot of ICN - TPE schedule flights? If so, how senior do you have to be... to be able to hold TDY ICN and fly from TPE to go to work and back (which fleet)?
6. No way to tell, do you think TPE will always be a key operation at Atlas or might get drop off in the future?
Obvisouley, the idea here is basically to live in TPE and go to work either starting and ending in TPE, or the following:
1. Able to live in TPE and DH to near by key operations (like ICN) on company aircraft as part of your monthly schedule.
2. Able to live in TPE and DH to ANC (the closest gateway) or any big TDY operations in Asia (like ICN).
I have no problem flying around the world each month, done it before. I just like to see if there is any possibility of living in Asia and start and end in Asia? In fact, that would be AWESOME to be able to flying around the world and live in TPE!
Anyone information, if any, is greatly appreciated. And yes I know things will change and nothing is absolute in the ACMI world.
Thanks

Pre-covid, TPE was basically a pseudo 767 base. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Personally, I doubt that it will ever be the case again. All of our Asia ops have basically consolidated in ICN.
The 767 still has a regular route that starts and ends in ICN. Every weeknight it goes ICN-TPE-NGO-ICN. We have 747s go to TPE for letter checks, but I'm not sure that they do any actual cargo flights in or out of there.

I spent the night at RCTP 2 weeks ago. We were dropping a plane off for mx and picking one up. Min ground time and we were confined to the hotel room. Do not care to go back until things open up.
