Majority are full trips, out and backs (what you would call city pairs) are somewhat rare. Both have ups and downs. A long trip can be 7 days but may credit 80 hours, so they pay pretty well. And if you are senior and have a 17 or 18 day off line, you can make a good bit of money and still keep your first wife.
