World class dining
Sporting and entertainment venues
it is not far to very nice beaches
You don't need to travel all the way to Key West, except for the bar scene, the middle Keys are actually nicer
South Beach is interesting but better done mid week as the weekends and certain seasons (e.g. Spring Break) stay away
Biscayne Bay is a treasure if you can figure out some way to get out on it
Tennis and golf is pretty readily available year round

I lived in Coral Gables for 22 years, less then 10 miles from the Training Center. It is a safe, beautiful city with multiple dining venues and clay tennis courts.

You won't have a lot of time for recreation during training, but don't be afraid to venture out, there are plenty of options.

During training, I walked to Coral Gables whenever I had time, oror sometimes took the bus. A slightly longer bus ride will take you straight to Coconut Grove. There’s a beautiful botanical garden there. When my wife visited we kayaked through the mangroves and saw manatees. Another time we rented a car and drove to Key West. But walking anywhere in Miami is definitely scary and the drivers are always honking and trying to kill you. (Including the van drivers).

Fairchild Botanical Gardens are actually in Coral Gables.

The drivers in Miami are definitely not normal, they stop at yield signs, yield at stop signs and generally ignore most other traffic courtesies. Red lights are not obeyed and they will turn right from any lane. The most annoying trend is they will stop in a traffic lane in a 45MPH zone to let grandma get out. If you accept these tendencies and drive cautiously, you will be OK. We suffered a few accidents until adjusting to these realities and then did fine for a long time.

Our favorite walking areas included;

Coral Gables, except LaJuene Ave
Miami Beach boardwalk (week days)
There are actually "boardwalks" oceanfront up and down the coast, except the Keys
Key Biscayne beaches
Fairchild Gardens

Coconut Grove is fun, but don't stray out of the city center

The neighborhoods and city circle in Miami Springs afe fine, take in the Cozy Corner diner.

If you go down to Key Largo, I highly recommend the Fish House restaurant.

You can walk to an eternal flame that memorializes the bay of pigs invasion. It's about 2 miles from the hotels.

I recommend venturing a few more miles to Islamorada, for the middle Keys, choose from

Pierres or Moroda Bay, Next to Worldwide Sportsmen, wonderful setting and higher end

Islamorado Fish Company attached to the Worldwide Sportsman

Lorelei is a popular cabana bar, nice for sunset

Green Turtle Inn is an older classic

These properties all are only about 80 miles south of the airport and except for weekends it is not a bad drive.

You are correct, and it is the location of Fairchild's House. The much larger Fairchild Botanical Garden is a few miles down the shore and has a butterfly house, snack bar and frequent large events such as the Orchid Festival

No.
Stick to generic systems info.
Nothing with ‘procedures’ or ‘techniques’.
