Yet attrition isn't a problem here according to management. Captains leaving for other airlines? Always a good sign.... New hires and applicants please know that you are stepping into what's looking like a pretty ugly battle for the next few years.

I took the test (and passed with a good score) back in Sep, and I'm still waiting for the phone to ring. I have re-submitted my resume every months since. Earlier this month I got an email saying they are passing it onto the hiring manager again.
Still waiting for the phone to ring.

Is jet time still needed to be competitive? Last time I talked with the CP in ANC he said that jet time was almost a necessity.

Atlas appears to be the only company requiring an online written test just to interview. Once invited for an interview its followed up with a tech interview, a written SA, and all the normal HR stuff. Perhaps, some one who's been through it can confirm this is in fact the process?

Everything you said is correct except that there is no more essay.

I believe no more "Resume Review" phase either. It used to be;

1) Phone Screen
2) Then tech test
3) F2F consisting of-
a) Essay
b) Tech test review
c) Resume review
d) HR/pilot interview.

Latest I heard is that both a and c are gone, with 2 and 1 swapping order.

I'm packing to leave Sat morning for Miami, driving so I'll be able to bring more stuff. (like cheap food)

Is there anything I'll be wishing I had next week that I should consider bringing along? Any idea if the new hotel's wifi/TV will allow a Kindle FireTV stick to work? Has anyone found a decent laundry nearby since there's not one in the hotel?

I know I'll do just fine no matter the conditions. I'm trying to avoid buying something in MIA that I could have brought from home, like an air compressor or a chainsaw .

Thanks to all who've been so helpful over the 2+ years I've been applying and asking dumb questions. I'm looking forward to that 7am shuttle Monday!

Anyone who interviewed in early Jan got a call for a class yet? I read a few pages back that the pool is empty, the Dec iterviewees are in the Feb 16th class, and there's also a class Mar 9th.

Things I wound up having to buy five years ago when I showed up:

A good notebook (I know; kind of stupid of me to show up without one)

A tie for check ride day (see comment above) Not mandatory but just habit from years of doing this

We're not at the Marriott any more and stay at the Crowne Plaza just down the street instead so I can't speak to the internet quality. I haven't stayed there yet.

For the same reason, I'm afraid I can't answer the laundry question either.

There is an app available called "Flashcards Deluxe" that does a fine job. Once you get the app you can install the cards for:

747 Study Guide
Atlas Air 747-400 Limitations
Atlas Air Question Bank
Atlas Air 747-400 Air System
Atlas Air 747-400 Fire Protection

I've had this for about a year and it's a lot easier than writing out 3X5 cards and carrying a stack of them around.

Welcome to the family! I look forward to seeing you out there in the world somewhere.
